Hammer Jordan Hugill hurt both himself and Middlesbrough’s hopes of Championship survival with a brilliantly lobbed winner for Queens Park Rangers at the Riverside.
Hugill’s final touch of the game proved to be both sublime and decisive just after the half-hour mark, lifting the ball over Boro goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic with a half-volley from 25 yards. Neil Warnock’s Boro pressed in the second half but failed to find an equaliser to lift them out of the bottom three.
Hugill has scored 15 goals for Rangers this season with back to back goals in the last two games since extending his loan until the end of the Championship season.
QPR are now assessing a hamstring injury Hugill picked up while scoring against Middlesbrough. The West Ham striker was substituted immediately afterwards, but manager Mark Warburton seemed optimistic that the problem is not overly serious and that Hugill will be available for the remaining five matches of the season.
“He just felt a tightening at the back, so it (the substitution) was more precautionary” Warburton said.

Surely QPR and West Ham can do a deal this summer with Hugill going there permanently and Eze coming to us. Both clubs can inflate the fees on the balance sheet and would make sense for all parties involved! Even would be perfect LM for us.
I’m so happy for Jordan.Maybe He can come back to West Ham and score goals for us too, even if it is as an impact sub.You must admit, that was a sweet goal .
Never given a real chance with us. Not an automatic starter but sometimes just what you need. This guy does exactly what we are all raving about Antonio doing in games. Works his socks off the entire game. I think he could play his part for us.
