Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has said out loud what most people are thinking about one particular West Ham manager.
Why is Hammer Andriy Yarmolenko so much better for his country than his club.
“Yarmolenko is a wonderful player for his country“, Hoddle told Betfair.
“He does well for West Ham coming off the bench, but he looks a different player when he plays for his country, he’s confident and wants to play with a swagger.“
The 31-year-old has been on West Ham’s books since 2018, but has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, amassing just 362 minutes of Premier League football last season.
Yarmolenko, who has entered the final year of his contract with West Ham, faces an uncertain future at the club.
He was signed by Manel Pellegrini from Borussia Dortmund for £18m and is reported to be one of West Ham’s highest earners on £115,000 per week.
Yarmolenko has been deployed as a striker by Ukraine for the Euro 2020 tournament scoring two goals and assisting two more. If fit he is likely to face Declan Rice and England on Saturday night in the quarter final in Rome.
Played in a position that suits him with minimal tracking back . . . I wonder why he looks better?
In this article it says that hoddle said something about the West Ham manager tthat most people were already thinking. What did Hoddle say about moyes then? That he should have played Yarmolenko more?
Assuming Rice isn’t rested bcos of his yellow card.
