Pablo Fornals admits – like most players arriving from a European league – that life is much tougher in the Premier League and a period of adjustment is usually required.
But he’s pleased with his season – and so he should be after managing 40 appearances – and convincing David Moyes that he can be a key part of hid new West Ham.
He was seemingly very much a second thought when the manager took over with the likes of Felipe Anderson and Manu Lanzini uppermost in his mind.
When that failed he turned to the Spaniard who has been a regular since, playing with the kind of energy the Hammers boss requires.
It’s probably also true to say that of the Pellegrini signings, the 24 year old is the one whose future is assured as question marks hang over several of the others – Haller, Ajeti, Anderson, Balbuena for example.
And talking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/july/27-july/pablo-fornals-its-been-good-first-season-me the midfielder made it clear how much he has enjoyed the campaign.
He said: “Personally, I will look back at my first year at West Ham [and it was] very good because it is not easy to come from another country. Everybody knows the difference in intensity between La Liga and the Premier League, so i think for me it was a very nice season.
“I played a lot – that’s why I came here, to play, to try to help West Ham and I am very happy.
“The last games were great games for our team. This is what the fans want to see from us and I hope when the league starts next season we can play like we did in the last weeks.”
The lad’s been very good in what has obviously been an extremely difficult first season.
Am really looking forward to seeing him develop further in the coming season.
Can’t believe I’ve seen it suggested we should get rid.
Haller and Anderson on the other hand can both do one.
Most important thing now is a good clear out .We have so many luxury players on big wages who have done nothing to help us escape relegation this season.Anderson,Lanzini,Wilshere, for starters.Haller possibly along with about half a dozen other fringe players who we have seen are just not up to it when called upon. Then its time for a rebuilding of the squad. We all know Moyes best starting 11 as he has picked them throughout the last 9 games, now he has to tweak and strengthen a couple of positions.Sounds so simple doesnt it.
