Hammers admit they can’t wait much longer on Moyes

Hammers put timetable on Moyes departure

by Hughie Southon

West Ham have now made it crystal clear that David Moyes has to arrest the squad’s decline quickly or be sacked!

We revealed earlier that the manager was edging towards real problems with his employment status and theĀ  club know the current position can’t be allowed to continue for much.

I had been told by the late David Gold – bless his heart – some years back that the club saw nine successive defeats as the benchmark for the sack.

But as we pushed a little harder on the manager’s future this afternoon it was confirmed to us that the club weren’t prepared to wait that long and that it would probably be six.

With Arsenal and Brentford next on our agenda he may be saved by a result against Olympiacos, Brentford or Nottingham Forest but even that is in no way guaranteed.

The position for Moyes may have been exacerbated for Moyes by the arrival of Tim Steidten who looks now to be very much the club’s No2 to David Sullivan.

There has beenĀ  be no love lost between the pair and is certainly not being helped by results. And the club made it clear though an insider to us that there was a point where the number of successive defeats would have been nine.

But he declared: “The way things are going we know we can’t wait that long!”

I really don’t understand why a decision like this is based on successive defeats. It makes no sense. Even the very worse teams would find it difficult to lose six in a row. But we’re talking about a club here that apparently has pretensions of regular European football and breaking down the dominance of the top six. It would mean that a scrambled undeserved draw against e.g. Notts Forest would re-set the clock. It’s nonsense.

For God’s sake, see the writing on the wall and take decisive action!

The Manager must go too many errors feel sorry for the fans.

Put it this way. If you are reading this Mr Moyes. Why don’t you do the honourable thing and resign.
