Hammers Christmas rise looks to be on pause

Lanzini – Still a massive talent we wait to show his best

West Ham’s defeat at the Bridge has halted any hope of rapid movement up the League over the next set of matches.

The best we can probably hope for will be to hold our place in 10th on December 27 when we really should beat Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ok, I know there are no givens but with Albion just outside the bottom three one would hope – with Mikey Antonio probably on the bench – and Manu Lanzini available, we can reach 24 points.

Boxing Day offers what appears to be comparatively straightforward games for those above us with Villa (22 points),  hosting Palace, Manchester City (23)  welcoming Newcastle  and Southampton( 24 ) at Fulham.

Realistically they should all win but with shock results always possible on Boxing Day awe can keep our fingers crossed.

One thing is for sure, Haller has probably now run out of chances and should Antonio not be ready to start Lanzini and Benrahma may well be the way to go should Manu be fit.

I feel that we should be concentrating on our own points tally and worrying less about the teams above us – in any case despite the thrashing they got from Liverpool, I think that Palace might get a draw at Villa

Saints away and Everton away are two tough games – so if we get 5 points from the 3 games it would represent a decent return

Agree about Haller Hugh he should be pushing on not falling over. Other options? Yarmo is a solid threat up front. Jarrod and Yarmo – lot of trickery there. Personally I want Said to make his mark in midfield – it’s a big enough jump this year into the Prem in my opinion. Manu in midfield too – great. Pablo? Left wing back or nothing for me – the position would focus him and he’s hopeless in front of goal.
