Hammers could borrow Haller strike partner

|

A new report claims that West Ham lead the way among a number of Premier League clubs to have asked Real Madrid about the availability of Luka Jovic on loan.

The 22-year-old striker has been restricted to cameos since signing for Real in the summer, playing 90 minutes just once all season.

90min  suggests that Jovic will be allowed to leave on loan this summer

West Ham could jump at the chance to pair him with Sebastian Haller. The pair were strike-partners at Eintracht Frankfurt between 2017 and 2019, where they both made their names before earning big money moves.

The striker joined Real Madrid for 60 million euros (£55m) last season and is claimed to earn £170,000 per week.

Although Chelsea and Leicester City have been rumoured to make a £31m permanent move for the young striker the Spanish striker and Real Madrid might prefer a loan to build his confidence back and could be persuaded to subsidise his £170,000 per week salary.

Not much point in getting ‘scoring partner’ in to join Haller unless West Ham are going to play to give them a chance. Need the rest of the ‘partners’ in the momentarily successful side and similar opposition, too. We already have Antonio who has been fantastic for 5 seasons. He’s been played out of position and with very little help for far too long. Now seems that Bowen and Souchek plus the others are trying collectively and the team is reaping the rewards. We tried the ‘one up front’ on his own and it doesn’t work. Anything over the half-way line – leave it to the top man and wait for it to come back. Much better to go forward in numbers and make the most of whatever happens. We’ll get more penalties, free kicks, corners and goals if we are more spontaneous and rely less on the coached skills of the single option. Players will enjoy it more and life will be a little better. No – we won’t have the certainty that comes with coached, interchangeable players. BUT where is that certainty? England try it and it just doesn’t work. Play to our strengths and realise that this is a team game. A team of individuals doing lots of instinctive good stuff. Good habits – yes. Always awake – yes. Always aware – yes.

Buying the new George Best and expecting him to win games on his own is silly. Buying Haller’s old partner and sitting back expecting to be entertained with winning football is also silly. This strategy has never worked. We have the players – give them some rein.

This sounds like nonsense, the player is at Real Madrid probably earning a fortune in wages, not sure he will want to move to a club where his strike partner struggles for game time. Hopefully we will sign either Ollie Watkins or Alfredo Morelos someone with pace and aggression that like Antonio will frighten opposition defences. In the worst case scenario that we lose Rice, hopefully if it is Chelsea we should demand Kovacic and Rueben Loftus-Cheek as replacements to fill the void and provide us options.
