Hammers draw Brighton in Youth Cup

|

Joe Cole helped Hammers under 18 to their last Youth Cup Final victory.

West Ham United’s Under-18s will be aiming for a place in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup after being drawn to meet Brighton & Hove Albion.

Jack Collison’s lads will meet the south coast outfit at Dagenham & Redbridge’s Chigwell Construction Stadium,  after crashing out of the competition at this stage against Blackpool last season.

The Hammers have in fact won the cup on three occasions , their last win coming in 1999 when the likes of Joe Cole and Michael Carrick were involved in a team which beat Coventry City 9-0 on aggregate.

Brighton compete in the same Premier League U18 South Division as the Hammers, and are currently three places and three points behind the east Londoners in tenth position.

Collison said: “We have momentum now going into the FA Youth Cup. We know what Brighton and Hove Albion are about in our league, but we will do our homework and make sure we are ready for the game.”

Full fixture and ticketing information will be announced later.
