Hammers facing serious test

Aston Villa are in as strong form as they have been for some time as they head for the London Stadium tomorrow (Sun).

Boss Steven Gerrard has done particularly well since he arrived at the club and has now raised the club to ninth place -one below deadly midlands rivals Wolves and two beneath us although they remain nine points behind the Irons as things stand!

And let’s make no bones about it of the two sides they are in the team in form having scored nine goals in three successive wins whilst we have managed just one in our last three.

However, two earlier defeats against Newcastle at St James Park and Watford away demonstrates their vulnerability and after a highly encouraging performance in Seville this week the Hammers squad ill be in confident mood

As we write yesterday the outstanding Phillipe Coutinho with four goals in nine games since arriving will need particularly special attention with Declan Rice presumably being the man marker!

Discussing Villa David Moyes told the pre-match presser: “I said, from last year, that Aston Villa have got good players. They’ve got some really talented young players. They’ve signed well.

They’ve had some really good results. Of course, there’s a bit of difference between Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and maybe the rest, but I think after that there is very little between the teams from top to bottom.

I think we’re seeing different momentum swings in the season, and I think Aston Villa are in a good moment, so we’re going to need to play well to get the points.”
