West Ham Captain Mark Noble together with former Hammers Rio Ferdinand and Bobby Zamora are considering extending Legacy Foundation – their housing initiative which creates community, sporting and youth facilities alongside developments –to Barking and Dagenham.
The trio met with council leader and Hammer fan Cllr Darren Rodwell to discuss their plans.
“As a West Ham fan it was great to meet these Hammer heroes and I look forward to working with them in the future to see how we can provide more affordable housing in the borough with Legacy,” Cllr Rodwell said.
“I am keen to team up with Mark, Rio and Bobby to make sure east London doesn’t end up a playground for the rich.”
In a statement, Noble, Zamora and Ferdinand said: “It is clear that Barking and Dagenham share the same aspirations as Legacy.
“We all care passionately about changing the face of communities living in local council housing.”
The footballers have also spoken to the council in neighbouring Newham.
