Hammers in-line for £122m windfall this season

|

MoneyWest Ham will earn TV rights worth £122m this season if they finish in their current position of tenth place in the Premier League. If they manage to climb to seventh like last season the total will top £128m.  Each league position is worth £2m per place in the Premier League merit payment this season under a new £5.5 billion mega TV deal.

Each one of the twenty Premier League clubs will get an equal share worth £85m each and then receive £1m per game shown on UK TV with a guaranteed minimum payment of ten games.

Last season West Ham had 15 games shown on TV and are on target for a similar total this season which will net them £15m in what are called facility payments. Arsenal were on the TV 27 games last season meaning they received £100.8m for the season despite coming second while champions Leicester received £93m after they had  just 15 games shown live on the box.

Even the last place club who will be relegated this season will receive £97m this season.

The Hammers earned £85.6m TV income of last season for finishing seventh under the old TV deal. With the London Stadium match income likely to reach £32m and retail and commercial sponsorship income increasing to around £30m combined West Ham could easily find themselves with turnover approaching £190m by the end of this season.

And we still can’t get a 20 goal striker.
8 days left, and we have a 33 year old defender. He will have no sell on value. Something has to be done about this, who is in charge of the transfers!!!
Because it s not working, also summer window was a complete failure.

    • The Demon says:

Aw, stop moaning. The 20 goal striker comes along once in a blue moon and half the clubs in the EPL are chasing the few that exist. Spurs spent big on Janssen and got burnt; Chelsea are hoarding them (Batsh!t & Remy), Benteke’s flopping at Palace for £32m, etc. Spending big doesn’t guarantee success, it just guarantees a rich agent. Stick with Carroll, Antonio, Lanzini & Ayew, wait for Sakho to come back and then bring Martinez through with Browne behind him.

Buying Hogan’s a fix of sorts, but I think we probably have a bit of a plan already.

  • Badger says:

Very useful information for the London mayor to use as part of his investigation into the costs the tax payer picks up for us using the OS. Let’s just hope our contract for using the stadium is 100% water tight otherwise stories like this will gone back to haunt us.

    • Long Fella says:

It aint exactly Einstein terrotory to work out roughly how much we will get anyway. Its all well documented what place prizes & tv revenue is.It aint cloak & dagger stuff anyone cant find out anywhere else.

  • IronMan says:

What club’s management would you rather swap for ours? Cheslki… Manure… Liverpool… Citeh… or shall have Daniel Levey at the helm instead? No thanks. The glass is 89% full, not 11% empty.

Im not concerned about Fonte having sell on value, for 8 million that really isn’t important. Its the experience & leadership that matters in my opinion. What 20 a season striker will we find, costa, ibra, kane. They are far & few between, only Defoe could be an option.
As i have said before how many other clubs have done any considerable business. Not many.

    • HamburgHammer says:

Exactly, Fonte is not about resale value at all, think of it this way: Everyone keeps rambling on about the proverbial 20 goal a season striker.
How about signing an experienced Euros winning CB with leadership who helps to stabilise our back four in a way we concede 20 goals less?
Surely that is as important for gaining maximum points than finding that elusive top striker.

After 22 matches,16 to go.How many players are going to break the 20 goal barrier.Maybe two or three of them.If you take the penalties off of their totals none of them apart from Costa,Sanchez or Ibra would i doubt. The 20 a goal a season striker is some sort of mythical creature i tell ya 😂😂
        1. Diego Costa 15 (0)
        Alexis Sánchez 15 (1)
        3. Zlatan Ibrahimovi 14 (1)
        4. Harry Kane 13 (3)
        5. Jermain Defoe 12 (5)
        Romelu Lukaku 12 (0)
        7. Kun Agüero 11 (3)

  • Long Fella says:

I would bite your hand off for a 15 goals a season striker.Forget about 20 Lol

    • CondorHammer says:

And if AC (I’ll drop the ‘wheatabix ankles’ nickname, for now) can stay fit, we may have one LF👍⚒

      • Long Fella says:

Yeah thats true CH & if he stayed fit he would get 15 im sure. But how many seasons in his career has he done it.Once at Newcastle perhaps.I am only guessing im not sure.

  • bubs says:

You’ve got the statistics bug Rads
    Next comes the cake recipe
Then you will want Hippo back
    We don’t need a 20 goal a season player,
We need a team that plays together and who cares if AC,Antonio,Lanzini,Noble,Ayew get 30 between them,
Our problem was always going to be letting goal in
2 years of Fonte and Ginger and Oxford,Burke ,Rice, will be ready to take over,

Hamburg i just had a peruse of your article.I enjoyed it.I dont have an account on there so cant say well done on there.Sorry i got as far down the comments as a couple of guys moaning about Sullivan saying we hope we can catch Everton & sacked it.Talk about pick on the smallest thing to beat him with. Its getting embaressing.
Anyway thats by the by.Nice article you wrote, keep up the good work.

    • HamburgHammer says:

Cheers mate. We get a lot of opinions in the comments on there, there is rarely a topic people agree on and I find the debate refreshing. Thanks for reading, glad you liked it.
Main thing is that fans can come together on the blogs and exchange views.

I find beer refreshing not bullsh*t.Yeah im joking before you tell me off 😂😂

      • Colin Irons says:

Youre welcome mate.I always enjoy your articles you write them well.I guess we are all different i enjoy a decent debate or discussion but it should have some substance to it to my mind.Otherwise it is just a rant for the sake of it.Shock horror a chairmen says we should try to catch Everton & that is a bad thing?..I would have thought the positivity was good,it is certainly better than saying we are still looking at the relegation zone.

        • Sticky Fingers says:

I think there are some crackerjack articles on there.I enjoy them meself. Its some of the windbags on there i cant stand All mouth & trousers think they knows it all
