Celta Vigo defender Jonny Castro has emerged as a new January transfer target for West Ham. The versatile player can play in the centre or the right-hand or left-hand side of the defence and has made over 200 appearances since graduating through Celta’s academy and was part of Spain’s successful Under-21 squad.
The player has been linked with interest from Atletico Madrid, A.S. Roma as well as Leicester and West Ham.
Castro’s agent, Joseba Diaz is speaking to interested parties on behalf of his client before a decision is made.
The young defender famously scored away at Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey last year to knock the Spanish giants out of the competition. The Vigo-native’s contract at Estadio Balaidos runs until June 2019 but he is thought to be open to a move away.
Feels like Groundhog (or no news) day.
Silly season in full swing.Could make a list of at least 30 players that have been mentioned so far but nothing happening.Moyes has a point when he says we should have a window of just a week in January with a mad last day instead of a month of crazy speculation that never comes to fruition till the very end.Journalists love it but most fans just climb the walls. It needs a review.
I don’t get we have young versatile defenders & know looks like should of left Ox on loan as Moyes already thinking of loaning him back & Rice still doesn’t start. Don’t get me wrong I like Moyes but think mid as to be priority
