Hammers into Europe – DG reacts

|

4380Relieved David Gold declared himself “a very happy man” after Manchester United lifted the FA Cup at Wembley tonight.

Despite half the workforce at his head office being Palace fans he was far more concerned the Red Devils paved a way into Europe for the Irons.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh Gold said: “We deserved it. I just wish we hadn’t been forced to sweat it out until the last kick of the season but all that matters I that we are in the Europa Cup. I’m sorry for all my Palace friends but it’s all about what’s best for the Hammers.

“It’s wonderful news for the players, fans, manager and everybody associated with our club. To have a first season in a new stadium as a European competition team couldn’t be better.

“We have been bemoaning out luck with bad decisions and not getting the run of the green all season it seems but tonight it all came together for us and it feels great.

“It would have been better not to have to become a Manchester United fan for the evening but it was a great result for us in the end.”

With the help of the Muppet clatterburg ? What a Muppet .
Don’t get me wrong but palace fans must feel sick with the decisions against them .
Europe here we come ! I wonder if clatterbug and Rooney went for dinner afterwards ??

  • slaven a laugh says:

Looking forward to European nights under the lights at Olympic park. We needed Europe to help attract bigger name players. Simple as that. Come on you irons!

  • GW says:

So Europe it is after 1 season of Slav, 62 points in one season a record after 1 season of Slav, positive goal difference after 1 season of Slav. I’m guessing the “Be careful what you wish for” and the ” Dung Beetle appreciation” cults annual end of season parties for amassing 40 points and avoiding relegation have been cancelled and been moved to Sunderland?

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

how is Bielsa doing now? and Motes? and McClaren? and ……… be careful what you wish for ( that is if you come into the real world )

  • Radai Lama says:

Don’t forget that we needed to keep Hippo so we stayed in the Prem GW.It would be a disaster to move into the OS as a Championship side,we needed some peoples Messiah as the only way to have stability moving there as he knows how to keep clubs in the Prem haha.I really regret getting rid of him ๐Ÿ™‚

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

I’m sure you do regret it poor Radai.
For one who never talks about football, but only about your darling Hippo, you must be heart broken with nothing to talk about lol.
Never mind there is another football season coming soon, so you can go back into Hibernation.
By the way how is your choice for manager Bielsa doing theese days?

      • Radai Lama says:

I talked about hippo because I was at all the games home & away for his four seasons bar about 15.What about you??
Maybe if you had been travelling the country watching the sh*t we were playing for most that time you would have had the hump as well instead of being some wise guy now ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • sleepswithdafishes says:

you are quite right. I live abroad for 23 years so I stopped watching live games 13 years ago, gave up my season ticket.
Before that I saw around 600 live games, and all the ups and downs which is why I am more reasonable about it all than you.
I also watch all our games home and away live streamed on the internet, so I know what type of game we are playing.
We have had bad times before so one gets hardened to it, but I don’t expect to see many bad times again, because the owners have got it spot on for the last 5 years.
These things take time, and the owners know that. They also know to be careful what they wish for.

  • EastStandTeddy says:

I changed my mind between Klopp,Bielsa the Seville manager & many more through last summer if I am being honest. When names get thrown at you it is easy to see positives for many of them.I take it you were a Bilic man from day one Sleepswithdafishes or are you being wise after the event.A trait amongst football fans, myself included lol

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

I always liked Billic as a player and a man ( similar to Billy Bonds ), but he was not my first choice because he had said he wasn’t ready for the Prem. I couldn’t see any perfect choice.
I certainly would not choose Bielsa ( 65 years old ), seeing his record. People on this site were creating a Myth around him, which was laughable, but I agree it is easy to be swayed by so many people pretending they know something about these managers.
I am just happy we got Billic because he is one of us, and he was better choice available.
Lets hope he carrys on the same way.

      • EastStandTeddy says:

Bilic has been a breathe of fresh air as far as I’m concerned. However it seemed for a long while he was out of the picture, well down the pecking order.I wasn’t adverse to Bielsa,i watched much of Ath Bilbao under him in La Liga & their run to the Europa final & he had made them into a very good team.He is a proven manager whichever way you look at.Who knows what he would have done in the premier league.I can’t see that any myth needed to be created about him,his record is good.I assume you didn’t rate him so anyone who did didn’t know what they were on about lol Opinions are like assholes,we all have one & most the time we are wrong if you want to be retrospective about much said on blogs & football forums. You are doing Bielsa a disservice as well, the man is 60 not 65 lol

        • sleepswithdafishes says:

I agree with what you are saying, but critising people who say be careful what you wish for, like it’s some sort of Sam loving crime, is so easy to answer. Just say Bielsa Moyes and McClaren, and everyone goes into meltdown lol.
Anyway time for the fitness club. Bye

  • mattefumi27 says:

I don’t understand your sarcasm, sleepswithdafishes. What’s the point, exactly? Ah ok, you were the only one that wanted Bilic as our manager last year… ehm no, you were a Sam lover, weren’t you? Bielsa was my first choice I didn’t know Bilic as manager, but no one wanted BFS again on this site… we wanted a radical overhaul, we didn’t have the crystal ball, but we were not as##oles enough to persist with the fat dinosaur… this is the real point ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

never was a sam lover ( whatever that is )

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

Bilic’s record was not special but once he came forward, I wanted him above the others.
He knew the club and the supporters, and at least had a lot of good experience.

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

by the way I don’t think it’s sarcasm just to put the record straight. It is only logical to say be careful what you wish for. It’s been proved over and over again, so when I here someone getting on there high horse over such words, I like to had some realism.

      • RickHammer says:

There was no reason to be careful what you wish for.We were heading down the table at a rate of knots. Its easy to put records straight as you put it but not when you come across as a smug prat.

        • sleepswithdafishes says:

the going down the table began because we got too many injuries for the strength of the squad, but it’s true that Allardyce could have done more to stop it.

  • RickHammer says:

Blimey someone woke up in a bad mood.I would go back to bed if I was you Sleeps.I was thinking Bielsa maybe a good manager for us,there again when Klopp was mentioned i saw he could be good.So many names where mentioned it was easy to see advantages for many.To say that Bilic was first choice for me would have been a lie.He has exceeded all my expectations.I wanted Hippo out,i was vocal on another site at the time so take me down as well then lol.Every person on forums seems to have watched 1000s of matches when you ask them lol

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

why take you down. I agree with all you said. I never saw 1000 games though lol.

  • TysonM says:

Fishes, how you doing.I would keep quiet if I was you.I seem to remember you saying Paul Clement would be a good choice as a young English manager when he left Madrid.Whaaattt????? I never believed that myth you created about him ๐Ÿ™‚

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

yes I did put his name into the mix along with others, because I was looking for a viable English manager. Actually on those lines Eddie Howe was my first choice, but he would take a couple of years. Clements was someone I didn’t know much but I was hoping someone would tell me.

  • TysonM says:

Either way I stand by the fact fats had to go.Forget be careful what you wish for, thats is a term used by people scared of change, its crap. You have to take risks sometimes or you go nowhere.

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

quite agree but if you take risks. then you better be careful. Like our chairmen were.

  • essexclarets says:

F**k me lads, it seems to me that this is like an episode of Dallas & the whole last season was just a dream. Why are you lot even talking about sam? Dรฉjร  vu.
i thought we had all moved on from this…
We changed managers, i think everybody can say it worked out to be a good move, a chance of EL group stage is on the table so much to look forward to. The past has gone the future is in our hands. COYI
    and….. relax…..

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

agreed. I don’t like it when people always go on about Allardyce and all that comes with it.
Our future is with the football. let’s stick with it.

  • StanThe Man says:

Lmao,is Sleepwiththefishes actually Tony Cottee in disguise.Wasnt he becareful what you wish for Man.I tend to disagree, sorry essexclarets but it is only natural that some of these feelings are still felt.It was rammed down peoples throats last year & even going into a fair slice of this season we should have been careful what we wish for.I didn’t use this site last year, only just joined recently actually but I would be enjoying ramming it back down some other fans throats as well.I clearly remember other fans on sites saying if you are anti Sam you are anti West Ham & don’t care about the club.If I was in that position I would take great delight in telling them what I thought.I never believed in this ridiculous belief that if you stood by or didn’t critique the manager at the time you were the real fans.It was totally presumptuous & wrong.I regularly see people dismissing Redknapp,Pardew & other ex managers tenures, why is Allardyce not allowed to be mentioned either.Even now Roeder still takes stick lol Maybe it is because fans dont like to be reminded of what they said last summer about keeping him.

  • AnyOldIron says:

Seems to me that there’s only two topics of conversation on this blog, one Sam Allardyce / be careful for what you wish for and the second the obsession with WHTID which is obviously derived from an acute inferiority complex.

  • RickHammer says:

While it seems to me that you only appear to talk about what others say.Do you have an obsession with that.I have only ever seen you on here to mention what others say.Obsession I would call that wouldn’t you?.Think someone mentioned before you are banned from WHTID.Well you must be a real cโˆšnt then, not just an idiot!

  • Radai Lama says:

AOI is a little troll who lives under his bridge & comes out about once a week to spread his wise words Rick haha.Yeah I think Billy said he was.Banned for being an obnoxious little troll ๐Ÿ™‚

  • mattefumi27 says:

hahha… AOI, excuse me for offending your sensibility and your intelligence and thanks for providing those important stats about OT comments… please add your comment too, your stats have to be updated… loool ๐Ÿ˜€

  • RickHammer says:

Perhaps his wife only lets him on the internet once a week while she monitors him.She obviously knows if he is on anymore than that he starts watching gay porn when she ain’t about.Thats why he is called Any Old Iron because he ain’t fussy who he gets stuffed by.

  • Radai Lama says:

Matte I was watching Formica Atomica playing for Toronto last night, why is he playing in the MLS,he looked different class compared to all the other players.Too good for that league I thought.

    • mattefumi27 says:

I agree Rads, Giovinco is a great player, and yes, he’s too good for that league… and I would add for the Italian League too… lol it seems me that he makes โ‚ฌ 7 mil. per year, a fortune he can only dream of possessing here in Italy… We must avoid a brain drain, looks like I’m all alone now lol ๐Ÿ˜€
      good night, mate ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Radai Lama says:

Yeah he looked really good last night, though ofc the opposition isn’t as good.Seems has gone for the pay day then, fair enough, but he is only 29 I think.Waste of a top talent IMO ๐Ÿ™‚
Night Matte, leave the figa alone haha
