West Ham have rubbished a Daily Express story that Napoli has rekindled interest in Hammer Pablo Fornals.
The report repeats that manager David Moyes needs to sell though before he can buy, and claims that the club are currently weighing up bids from Napoli for the midfielder.
Napoli were keen to sign the midfielder before West Ham signed him for £25m last summer.
Before signing for the Irons Fornals spoke to the press in Italy, and was asked whether he’d had contact with Napoli in recent weeks, given that they wanted to sign him.
Fornals admitted to Tuttomercatoweb that Champions League side Napoli were indeed keen but they took too long to decide on a move, and that allowed West Ham to get in and hijack their move, offering him a new challenge.
“Napoli were interested, there were contacts, but the Azzurri didn’t decide and I therefore had to think about continuing my career looking for new challenges,” said Fornals.
Reports have persisted since then that Napoli are tracking him and are prepared to offer him an option in Italy.
But a top Hammers insider declared this morning: “This has been around for such a long time but we have not had any offer from Napoli or anywhere else.
Meanwhile we remain one of only 3 premier league sides yet to add to last seasons squad
Technically Soucek is an addition as his season loan was due to finish
Technically he’s not as he was here last season. Hence he hasn’t been added he’s been retained .
Technically, Wilshere is an addition too, since virtually nobody has seen him play yet…
Soucek cost us approx. £13,000,000 to “retain”.
