West Ham are this morning being linked to new interest in Inter Milan’s Gabriel Barbosa according to reports coming out of Italy.
This follows alleged interest in January but eventually that faded and instead the 23-year-old was taken by Flamengo on a temporary deal until the end of this year.
Since the he has managed 22 goals and registered five assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian side.
FcInterNews claim his performances for Flamengo have rekindled the Hammers’ interest in the player. who also claim Flamengo are also interested in securing the attacker’s services on a permanent deal and have already offered €15m to the Serie A side.
However, apparently the Nerazzurri initially demanded €20m and further increased the price tag to €25m following his performance for the South American side and the Brazil call up.
ClaretandHugh says: It’s a little early for such gossip to start but given the manager has regularly claimed he has the squad he wants it seems unlikely the Hammers will be ready to invest another £25 million in the winter window anyway. The only way that could happen were there to be a couple of departures in the window and the boss is very unlikely indeed to do so given that this is the year in which he has established the group of players he wants. It would be good to see another forward at the club but we are not holding our breath at this point as we need to have a good look at Ajeti to see what he can offer. West Ham will inevitably be linked with alleged former targets on slow days which is always very well represented in the month of September so I think we can pass on this one.
That report was from back in January.
asexplained in the story and now being re-reported as possible new interest
Great win against United, but how many strikers on goal around the box did we see from our striker?
Wouldn’t we have to lose a non home grown player before bringing in another?
No just a player Neil
Oh ok, Thanks Hugh.
