Hammers may swoop as stopper eyes January options

|

Burnley keeper Tom Heaton has made it clear he is keeping his options open this winter at Turf Moor and that must be of interest to the Irons.

The 32 year old – who ironically is being kept out of the first team by Irons flop of last season Joe Hart – has regularly been linked with the Hammers.

He also has the added pressure of fighting with Nick Pope for the No 1 spot since last season after returning from a near year long injury but there is even more competition now since the arrival of Joe Hart  – three former England keepers fighting for a single spot.

There has to be a doubt he would want to swap his current wilderness experience for the Irons No 2 job but he looks  a more than ideal replacement for Adrian who now seems to be a cert to leave the club.

Heaton said: ‘Joe (Hart) was thrown in against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa League. The manager then kept him in for the weekend for the first Premier League game of the season at Southampton, which was frustrating for me.

‘I can’t lie. That was tough. Obviously, I knew Joe well and have great respect for him, but, to be perfectly honest, I was expecting to play. It doesn’t need a rocket scientist to see that it’s going to be difficult to fit us all [Pope and Hart] in.

‘Come the January transfer window, I’ve got to keep my options open. The one thing I’ve been consistent about in my career is moving clubs in order to play games.’

Are you listening Mr Pellegrini 🙂

Fabianski probably been out best signing we din’t need a new keeper and I can’t see heaton sitting in the bench for us

I’d rather keep Fabianski inbetween the sticks. Can’t see him replacing Fabianski on current form anyway, so if Heaton consistently moves clubs so he can play games then I suggest he moves elsewhere. Afterall If he was that good he would always have been number one at those former clubs and wouldn’t have had to move all the time in order to get a game.

We have two very decent keepers, why go for a third when we have other priorities , eg left back and a defensive midfielder?

We have to get cover if, as seems likely, Adrian moves on. Unless they’re prepared to take a gamble on Nathan Trott.

Of course Adrian will move on I’m not understanding why people don’t think we need another keeper as back up until trott is ready. Also need to sell cresswell Carroll and chich and Snodgrass and get in some top quality again centre mid left back keeper back up for Adrian leaving and a top striker. Work in progress we need pace and young legs not injury prone and slow players holding the game up .
