Hammers repeat their Yilmaz position

|

burak-yilmaz-galatasaray_3016926A widely reported story that Turkish goal ace  Burak Yilmaz  is all but on his way to the Irons has been well over-cooked.

The news first broke last week and was immediately knocked back by senior executives within the club to ClaretandHugh yet today the same story with a few twirls is doing the rounds again.

Claims out of Turkey suggested initially the deal was all but done with a three year deal on the table worth £48k a week – a figure now denied.

Since  our story revealing this was well wide of the mark the player’s agent has been reported on Lig Radio as saying: “We will not enter talks before the Galatasaray –Sivasspor game but rumours regarding a €10 million offer are false as we have not spoke about money.”

He added that talk of a of a three-year, £48,000-a-week contract was also wrong  as we had explained via our Irons sources.

After checking the latest speculation today we were told exclusively: “We know about the player, but as was the case last week talks are no better than tentative.”

Well it sounds like it is about bloody time we made these ‘tentative’ talks a little more substantial! I don’t understand how a club cannot identify forwards before Valencia gets injured so we would have had someone set up to come in. I thought we were going to get a striker even before Valencia was injured so what has happened to them? We are close to having a good squad but if we fail to land 2 or 3 significant signings in the forward line and at the back we may well struggle this season if injuries bite us like they have done over the last few years. There isn’t much of a difference between a team in the top 8-10 and one fighting relegation. These last few players that are needed to come in are so important. We need players who can come off the bench and make a real difference. I don’t know the last time we went behind and then came back to claim the victory.

Sounds more like we will get our forward and midfielder from Hull in a twin deal with players going the other way cost very little,
Unless when Slav said he was hoping for two he ment two forwards,

Oh no, please God not Jelavic!

Hahaha,i watched Jelilegs in the match on Sky earlier, absolute sh*t,he scored a pen but that was about it.If we sign him we might as well switch off the lights & all go home & G&S better stop banging on about us chasing the top 6 & ruffling their feathers.Aint going to happen with signings like Jelavic 😀

Besides that, he is one of the players (together with Remy, Lukaku and Lambert) who had an option of joining West Ham and refused to come. Now that he is in a lower league, let him stay there.

Unfortunately because the owners have been stung badly with Andy Carroll and to a lesser degree Maiga they are terrified of spending big on a striker again. This is probably why they are so reluctant to stump up the cash for proven goalscorer Charlie Austin even though he is available. We will in all probability end up with a loan signing or cut price 2nd rater like Jelavic.

How about the fellow from Bristol who caused so many problems in the FA cup last year ? Was his name Davies ?

  • bubs says:

He left Bristol for peanuts and signed for someone else this season but I don’t know who,
What about Anchebe from WBA he terrified our defence last year and has just been put up for sale and they want Anfitano so a deal could be done,
The problem is if we buy a top striker either Sakho or Carroll at going to miss out because we are only going to play one up top with a diamond behind so it’s a winger to cover Valencia that’s more important,
With Ayew now at Swansea make a bid for montero he would fit with Payet and that would leave Zarate or Lanzini in the hole behind the CF

  • Dunlopilo says:

Actually, the player in question is Matt Smith. Apparently he was on loan from Fulham and is back there now. Haven’t seen him playing a lot, but that day he could have scored three times against us.
