Hammers respond to London Stadium report

|

london-stadium-fansA West Ham United spokesperson told Claret and Hugh “As the report confirms, the Concession Agreement is a watertight, legally binding contract signed in 2013 in good faith by West Ham United, who remain absolutely committed to its terms for the entire 99-year duration.

“We have delivered everything we committed to within the Concession Agreement, and act as the primary vehicle for London Stadium’s legacy, delivering its most watched sporting spectacles, revenue driving events and thousands of jobs for local people.

“It is not in West Ham United’s interests for the Stadium to not be performing in line with aspiration and, as we have done ever since moving to Stratford in the summer of 2016, we continue to offer the benefit of our commercial expertise and substantial experience in managing successful stadia.

“West Ham United will continue to devote our absolute commitment to London Stadium, but our first priority in this sense is always to act in the best interests of our supporters.

“We fully concur that West Ham United has played a significant part in the most successful regeneration programme in the history of the modern Olympics, however the stadium itself craves renewed leadership and direction and we welcome the Mayor’s decision to step in and deliver this. West Ham United is firmly behind him.”

Amazing stuff ; it’s as if the Fans really wanted to leave Upton Park when the complete opposite is true . We never wanted to leave the Boleyn but we had to due to under the table deals that the fans had no say in . Upton Park with a bit more will to expand could still have been our Home . Dreams of Grandeur however put a stop to that . Now we are fighting for our lives thanks to the Financial dreams of certain others . WE DIDN’T need the LS in reality but now we are stuck with it . All we had to do was increase the capacity in Green Street .
The local council wouldn’t let us ( we are led to believe ) and I remain unconvinced .
Seems like we can draw parallel ‘s with Brexit ;;; Premexit looks on the cards . With a divorce bill none of us want . Dream on West Ham we are a small club trying to flex our little Muscles . I still believe we will be successful but , not any time soon . If we stayed at Upton Park I would be more optimistic .

It would have been the same at UP Kevin, we probably wouldn’t have played as well in the final season though because Bilic was poor. As for moving you are speaking for yourself, the new Stadium is a step in the right direction even if on the field we have moved in the opposite way, its romantic to think we ever would have been successful at UP we had 100 odd years there and did bugger all except the odd cup and not one of those for 35 years before we moved, we are in a new home now, it may have some flaws but overall sitting watching matches there is a lot more comfortable than it was in the cramped confines of the Boleyn, it has better facilities, is in a nicer area and eventually when we get the right manager, which possibly we have already it will turn into a fortress 😀
