Hammers respond to Payet player exchange talk

|

payet2West Ham have tonight poured cold water over reports suggesting that a player plus cash deal could be on the cards as Marseilles eye a move for Dimi Payet.

Reports in the French media have claimed Marseilles are willing to throw in a player exchange, with either one of wingers Bouna Sarr and Romain Alessandrini thrown in,  to get a deal across the line this month,

France Football reported Payet is “ardently interested” in a return to Marseille but a top insider told ClaretandHugh this evening (Tues): “We would not be interested in either player and a deal is not on.”

There are other reports that with Marseilles ready to go as high as 40 million euros, Payet’s former boss at Lille Rudi Garcia is also keen to get involved.

But ClaretandHugh’s insider said: “There is no desire to sell. He remains our best player and is key to our plans for the remainder of the season.”

Its nice to see the French press are on a par with our media during the window. All looking for a headline no matter how true or false.
Sell Payet at our peril. The fans bemoaning his performances will soon miss him once he has gone.
