Hammers to lose money on loan deal

West Ham club sources have confirmed that Maxwel Cornet will join Italian club Genoa on loan for the remainder of the season after terminating a loan deal with Southampton.

The club want the 28-year-old West Ham winger to get game time to put himself in the shop window for a summer transfer.

A club source told Claret and Hugh exclusively this morning that the reports were true adding  “Sadly Genoa are only paying a fraction of his wages, but he needs game time”

The 28-year-old Hammer has been restricted to just two Premier League appearances at Southampton totalling 71 minutes this season with an additional two cup games giving him another 116 minutes on the pitch.

At a reported £65,000 per week, around £1.2m of wages are due until the end of June but it appears that the Italian club will only be paying a percentage of that.

Cornet joined West Ham from Burnley for £17.5m on a five-year deal so the Hammers have around £7m of amortisation left on their books until 2027 which they would ideally like to cover in a summer sale.

The club’s finances on each permanent or loan deal should be none of our concern. There’s really nothing any of us can do about them, is there?

  • B says:

I get that Cornet has had some injuries since arriving at West Ham, but how does a player that looked that good at Burnley, not get a look in at Sounthampton?

    Good luck Maxwel!

We not exactly full of options. Surely he worth a place on bench if we not receiving adequate loan fee. Must already be match fit and just in need of some game time.

Another Sullivan disaster . Amateur night again .
