Hammers try again for central defender

West Ham have denied new reports in France that they are ready to – or have concluded – a deal for Marseille central defender Duje Caleta-Car.

The 25 year old has been on the David Moyes radar for several weeks and the club but whilst a permanent deal doesn’t appear to be on the cards, the club has confirmed to CandH that they continue to hope for a loan with a to buy option.

The news broke across the French media this morning that the club were agreeing a switch to the London Stadium permanently but that was denied by the Hammers.

We were told: “That’s not true but are continuing to talk about the possibility of him coming for the rest of the season.”

Meanwhile, stories that we are also chasing Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz have been denied by sources close to the player along with suggestions that we are ready to bid big for Chelsea’s Armanda Broja.
