Hatters offer lifeline to former Hammer

|

Luton Town have contacted Augsburg about taking former Hammer Reece Oxford on loan for the remainder of the season claims the Sun newspaper.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to Dutch side VVV-Venlo and Middlesbrough but is now reported to be wanted by the  Championship club so there maybe some competition for his signature.

Oxford joined Augsburg on a permanent transfer from West Ham last August in a €2.3 million deal which was swallowed up in fees to the agents and the player who was forced to take a significant wage cut from his £20,000 per week he enjoyed in East London to join his new club in Germany.

Since joining Augsburg the former West Ham Academy graduate has made just eight appearances this season which has left him frustrated. Oxford believes he needs regular first team football to kick-start his career which has stalled over the last few years.
