Here’s why we can nick a result at Anfield

Ok, heads have been down for long enough and as we approach the weekend I find several reasons to be cheerful about the visit to Liverpool.

Word is that Cheik Kouyate will return and that the possibilities for Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio are relatively bright.

We are also at Anfield and in the present circumstances that’s a good thing given our better results and performances have all come away from the London Stadium.

They have also come against teams that like to come on to us as Liverpool – who themselves suffered a massive setback at Bournemouth last weekend- are likely to.

We also have Andy Carroll likely to start – hopefully alongside Ashley Fletcher – against a team whom he may feel he has a point to prove.

Yes, I understand that the Reds will want to put the Bournemouth defeat behind them as quickly as possible but West Ham may not be the best team to do that against given recent circumstances.

I’m not sure that even the very bright Slaven Bilic will have have expected the response he received from his “lack of intensity” comments last weekend and given the furore that followed he will be absolutely demanding a reaction.

And the players too will have been caught up in the storm that followed with Rio Ferdinand and many others pointing out that players should have taken that as an insult.

They will want to respond fast …if they don’t then we will know for sure that something very serious indeed is wrong and the future will become a lot clearer.

We have played all our best football this season against teams who like to come on to us; Palace, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United .

And as a result of that and the other issues I have mentioned I believe the hammers will nick something from Anfield and go on to consolidate against Burnley, Hull, Swansea and Leicester City.
