“He’s not a target – another made up story.”

West Ham have made their position clear on the regular and ongoing speculation over the club’s so called Chelsea target Ian Maaetsen.

The Blues left back has been linked with the Hammers for months and again today The Sun has raised it again followed as a result most other sites.

The claim from them all is that we are interested following his inability to make any sort of impression at Stamford Bridge after a successful loan spell at Burnley last term. But our top Hammers source told us “He’s not a target – another made up story.”

“He’s not a target – another made up story.”

It’s backed up of course by the fact that with Aaron Cresswell likely to be gone at the end of the season we will definitely be looking in that area for a replacement and with his current contract expiring in 2025 he would be available at a relatively low price. The latest speculation is that t is believed that the Hammers have asked for information on Maatsen’s availability and are considering an attempt for him when the window opens.

None of it is true however with our top source told C and H : “It’s another totally made up story – a situation which is happening two or three times a week and it’s not even transfer window time yet. It really is very irritating.”
