How we rated the Irons

|

Dimitri-Payet-605211Adrian: At fault for the goal but how can you be harsh – he’s been our saviour too often

Tomkins: Steady as a rock until being subbed for Jenkinson on the hour 7

Ogbonna: Like this fella enormously. A no nonsense performer. Takes no prisoners 7

Collins: Another top display from Ginge. What a response he’s given to the critics earlier 7

Cresswell: Never quite at his absolute best but did little to complain about 6

Noble: Always busy, always looking to play people in behind – good display 7

Obiang: Becoming something of a revelation. Always moving it forward – purposeful 7

Antonio: Non stop running. Never afraid to take them on. with better touch he’d be stupendous 7

Payet: Scored an incredibe free kick, set up Valencia’s goal. One of the most best  players we’ve seen at the club 9

Valencia: Thrilled for him AND US. Great display topped off with two goals. The free kick quite sensational 8

Carroll: Excellent during his 11 minutes on the pitch. We await news with trepidation 6

Subs: Jelavic: Fairly anonymous – one or two reasonable lay-offs 5

Song: Nothing to shout about 5

 Jenkinson: Ditto Song

    Very bizarre ratings there.

The Jenkinson sub was a game changer so cant understand how he gets only a 5. Saying “nothing to shout about” is just plain daft.
By taking Tomkins (who had a great game) off and bringing on Jenks, it allowed us to push forward more and get more width. That pushed the Bournemouth players back and Jenks created a lot of space.

Two great goals by Enner, but before that he was shockingly bad. Pleased for him and hope he now starts banging in them in. But no where near did he deserve an 8.

Noble was very poor and time and time again he gave the ball away and tried to do far to many “Parker” 360’s. Sadly it is this reason why so many fans are calling for him to be dropped. I still have faith in him but today he was very poor. By far our worse player today.

Antonio was by far and away the MOTM and easily deserved a 9. It is going to be very hard for Moses to get back in the team if Antonio keeps putting in shifts like this.

Payet did run him very close though. Going to be hard to keep him next season.

  • I’ll just assume that’s an attempt at humour 😉

  • Stinger says:

    Why would you assume that?

Your ratings are way off. Perhaps just understand that not everyone will agree with you.

If that is your ratings then I can only assume you never actually watched the game. Which wont be the first time.

You don’t like people who have a difference of opinions do you Mr Hugh?

      Agree with you Stinger!
Thought Noble deserved a 5 max, and Enner was gash first half (blinding free kick though)!
Also thought Adrian deserved more than a 5. One mistake and he get’s the same as 3 ‘ineffectual’ players (Jelly, Song and Jenks)?
Still, each to their own. It’d be boring if we all agreed.

      • Stinger says:

Cheers Frankiemacs. Agree about Adrian. He could have done better for their goal but he did also pull off a couple of very good saves. Including one near the end. Had that of gone in and the score goes t 3-2 then who knows?

How good it is to see after 21 games, West Ham 5th with just 4 league defeats all season and imho to top that off, only 2 defeats from 11 away League games.

5th highest goal scorers as well.

        In Slav we trust.

      • AnyOldIron says:

Not entirely sure about the Ratings.

Jenks worked hard, gave us more width and got us forward and of course won a VERY important throw in….. We always look a better team when Enner plays and Adrian made a couple of very good saves. With Antonio of course winning us BOTH free kicks. Jelavic chased down a great Payet cross that deflected off Cook and very nearly in to the goal…..

  • hammer4life says:

Sorry Stinger. I agree with Hugh’s ratings but everybody is entitled to their opinion. Whatever your view, it was a great team effort and Slav is a genius.

    • Stinger says:

      Agree 100% about Slaven Hammer4life.

They all told us to be careful what we wished for. Well we wished for Sam “useless, ear cupping, long ball playing, negative try to draw before winning” Allardyce to be gone and for us to get a manager in who wants to win and wants to progress the club further. A man who treats West Ham the club and it’s wonderful fans with the respect they deserve.

Thanks to Slaven Bilic, WE HAVE OUR WEST HAM UNITED BACK!!!!!

  • rickthehammer63 says:

  • West Ham exile says:

Absolutely love looking at the league table.Better still to think back to all the prize pr#cks in the summer & after the first 3 matches saying we should keep lardy becuase he guarantees Prem football,we need his stability the season before we go to the OS,the board have made a mistake.Arsheoles.Now the same idiots are all singing Bilics praise like their hero.Pity those ****s didnt have faith in the first place!!!

  • slaven a laugh says:

This is the best team since dicanio days and no small thanks to having a dicanioesque type of player in Payet something we’ve been crying out for for years. A player who makes the difference. Payet is a game changer and in this game his moment of brilliance from a free kick and them setting up the second made all the difference. Bilic has to take credit though for his decision to bring on jenkinson for Tomkins. Tomkins had played well defensively but when jenkinson came on it sent out a message to everyone that we were going to be more attacking. We went for it and risked exposing ourself more to counterattack but it worked and the more attacking emphasis paid dividends. So I agree with sting that jenkinson sub by Bilic was s game changer, whether jenkinson was as effective as he could have been is another question, though nobody on the pitch tonight deserved less than a 7 in my opinion. I disagree with those who typically love to slate our captain. I thought he was very good tonight and was all action. One brilliant defensive tackle on the edge of our area stopped dead a very threatening attack which could easily have led to a goal but for his intervention. He also linked up well and provided a foil for payet in the middle of the park. Noble is proving to be a good captain. The togetherness in the squad is obvious. The group hug after the second goal illustrated that well. The group huddle after the second goal led by noble was a defining moment in which it was obvious noble was telling the whole team not to throw this away, to concentrate and keep their heads screwed on. Into fifth place and looking like a team that has the perfect mix of industry and flair when everyone fit. The striker situation is a concern. I suppose we were all wondering how long before Carroll is injured. Let’s hope it’s not too bad. I feel we are one world class striker away from being a world class team, possibly even a title winning team.
