How we rated the Irons at Stockport

|

Hughie hands out his marks

Randolph: Awful attempted punch could cost have cost him dear early and maybe one other save on a night when he was a near spectator 5

Coufal: Surprised to see him not getting forward more with little coming down his side to defend. When he did we we looked a much better team 6+

Dawson: A comfortable outing against a team without any attacking edge and a nice headed goal to settle things 7

Ogbonna: Not much came his way in real terms but when it did he was again t he main man 7

Johnson: The lad is growing up fast. Perfectly comfortable outing 6+

Noble: Lots of pretty passing but when with little threat from County he would have been better off holding at the back and letting Dec get forward more 6

Rice: Tried to get forward more and once again always  chasing the opposition down 7

Yarmolenko; Some nice touches and ready to track back but would have expected more 5+

Lanzini: Seems to give the same sort of performance game after game. Nothing much to criticise but another from whom you want to see more 5+

Benrahama: Always busy and looked dangerous at times despite this being a slow moving Hammers performance 7

Antonio: Worked hard as he gets back towards real match fitness but obviously there’s so much more to come 6

Subs

Bowen: Provided some much required pace and the assist for Bowen’s goal 7+

Soucek: Looked a bigger player than anyone else bar Declan when he arrived late 6

Cresswell: On for Johnson late – presumably with an eye on extra time like the others – never too involved 5

Honestly wouldn’t have known Antonio was playing. Obviously feeling generous Hugh! Need a new striker- let’s hope Moyes has his eye on someone.

That pitch was not good so did not help our swift passing game. Benrahama done well I think we lacked a left footer on left who could get down the flank so kept playing inside. With 3 game coming up against teams lower than us we have got to be pleased to go through with no injuries.

Having played as a winger that pitch was a wingers word nightmare, leg it up there through the mud and puddles to the byline and get your footing slightly wrong and you’re going to slide all the way into a hospital.
