The column of ‘players out’ grows longer as agreements in the lastcouple of days are reported for James Ward Prowse and El Hadji-Mailck Diouf, which, if my maths is correct, takes the total number of departures since relegation to sixteen – and not yet finished – likely even to surpass the 17 player exodus of 2003.
Players out:
Fernandes, Summerville, Potts, Marshall, (Diouf) Wilson, Disasi, Fabianski, Earthy, (Ward Prowse) along with academy players Michael Forbes, Junior Robinson, Tyron Akpata, Daniel Rigge, David Chigwada, and Tom Wooster.
Likely these numbers will be even higher if Todibo and Alvarez are added to the list.
And arrivals are still woefully thin on the ground.
Just today Leeds winger Largie Ramazani was linked with a move by the Hammers. A £10 million price tag could make the Irons think again, making the temptation to revisit the signing of Reiss Nelson almost overwhelming, after surprising news today from the N Y Times:

Smart move from Nelson. No longer under pressure to get a transfer completed by September window close. Free agents can be signed at any time.
This leaves us with the option if we are unsuccessful with anyone else. Not that he will be waiting for our call. Someone else may be interested in making him an offer.
I can not understand why we are bulking at 10-15million price tags when they are reasonable players.Nelson now free that must be a warning sign, keep away from the free temptation.
We are just selling players which is great because all the dead wood has nearly gone, not heard much about Cornet going, that would be icing on the cake, but it would be nice to see players coming in, not last minute signings on Tuesday or more to the point no signings at all

With amount of money that’s been introduced through sales this seems a terribly naive situation.
This cannot be an alternative to a player with less sceptical circumstances.
The fact that Arsenal has torn up his contract tells you that this is not a progressive deal.
We have a number of players wanted off the books because of their wages and this is exactly what Arsenal have done.
If there was any mileage in this player it would have been discovered long before now.
Any consideration cannot be as an ‘instead off’ previously links if he comes in it’s additional.
Amount of players needed is deemed to be 4 (maybe 5) with him figure needs to be top up by one.

This transfer was always going to happen and with him now only costing a signing on fee it is nailed on just like the injury he will suffer the second he walks through the door
No to Nelson he’s too injury prone, Arsenal want to loan out Nwaneri for one season he’s a much better option and no interest has been shown in the prem or championship so chance your arm on getting him in.
Man City have paid a fortune for an 18 year old and are looking at other midfielders, perhaps Mukasa might have to think about his future especially if he has a good season with us.

Great game this week gives me hope the academy will provide some cover for squad positions.

What’s enticing he is permanently injured and absolutely useless, even worse than Traore. Not good enough even for the Championship.

I honestly don’t mind more exits than arrivals. Just shows how much money we’ve WASTED over the years. Could use another CB but otherwise we have a strong squad for the championship. Would prefer to save the money for hopefully when we need premier league players next season, rather than spend it all on championship players now. Let the young lads play! Last thing we need are more mercenaries.
As a free agent, I’d take a chance on him, but I think plenty of Championship clubs and overseas sides would too. I could even see a few Prem teams giving him a go.
We didn’t pull the trigger on a deal for him a few weeks ago, the fansites have been less than lukewarm, and the general rumblings from the fans haven’t been great. I’d imagine he’ll be of the mindset that he wants to go somewhere he feels valued.
