Hugill moves on for a modest fee

|

West Ham will pick up around £5 million from Norwich City from the sale of Jordan Hugill but only if the Canaries are promoted back to the Premier League or avoid relegation.

ClaretandHugh understands the Canaries have paid just under £3 million up front for the former Hammers striker who was officially unveiled by the Championship outfit around a couple of hours ago.

However, the add on – involving promotion or relegation – can push the fee to around the £5 million figure which has been widely speculated by various media outlets.

The 28 year old has taken a pay cut which has also involved the Hammers in a pay off to the player who has spent the last two years on loan – firstly at Middlesborough and last season Queens Park Rangers.

The striker will be on personal terms of around £20k a week at cash strapped City – a drop of around £15k on his Premier League weekly pay cheque.

However, it will boost the money available from his and Albian Ajeti’s departures to arou d £8 million initially which will go into the David Moyes transfer kitty.

I know every little bit helps and nobody can really be blamed for this situation…
But I must admit that during this open transfer window…. the activity is a bit like pulling teeth… Painful.
I also wish Jordan the best with his new club and I feel that he could yet surprise a few people in the Championship, but alas it wasn’t meant to be with us.

This must be one of the worst transfers in recent history.
Has anyone actually ever got an answer from Moyes in why he signed him for that much money in the first place ?
If it was him and not a Sullivan purchase.
No one has ever explained the signing.

Not quite up there with Wilshire but close.

So weve had a proven championship striker for last 2 seasons should we have got relegated and really needed to recall him. Middlesbrough and QPR have been paying us rent for him for all that time and paying his wages and now we get 5 mill back on him from Norwich. We’ve helped out three other clubs and we’ve helped ourselves. So all in all Hugill turned out to be a very good signing. All the best to the fellow. Hope he does well for Norwich. Hope we don’t need him next year in the championship if we get relegated.

All in all hugill turned out to be a very good signing?!

Can I have some of what you’ve been smoking.

I can see you are not a landlord, because renting out a property for half of the mortgage will see it repossessed quickly. Which is in effect what we have been doing the last 2 years. Not including the 5m capital wasted.

But its ok, we had a championship striker ready to go in case we got relegated. Very savvy!

      Honestly

Have we paid the outstanding installment on Haller yet Hugh?

Good luck to the lad. I hope he does well , however we need another striker. I’m worried where we’re going to get the cash from. I guess more sales but I can’t see any news about anyone else moving on. It’s worrying as we need a LB, RB probably Eze and a central defender , where do you get them without cash ?

Hi Hugh, great news for Huggill and Norwich, maybe Delia can negotiate a few of our contracts seeing as she seems able to do what our board can’t and get players under budget ? On a separate note is there any truth in the rumour about Weston McKennie from Schalke, seems to fit all the boxes for a Moyes signing, young, athletic, good attitude, great in the air used to playing without the ball.
