West Ham’s financial resources in this summer’s transfer window appear – as expected by some – greater than the £30 million plus widely reported.
News on Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio‘s website that we are in for a double swoop on Celta Viga involving Maxi Gomez (above right) and defensive midfielder Stanislavc Lobookta (below left) look realistic.
They have emerged following another piece of gossip that Aston Villa have shown interest in Gomez – a something from nowhere suggestion smacking heavily of agent chat based on getting his price up.
Previously it was Spurs, Arsenal and Barcelona who were supposedly intersted but the the Hammers have never lost total interest and in a conversation with a well placed source last night I was told: “It remains possible. Nothing is definite in this game but the interest has been ongoing and could happen.”
It’s now known a defensive midfielder is as high on Pellegrini’s list as a front man and he and Mario Husillos could now clinch a quick two for one deal in line with their policy of getting business done as fast as possible.
With £10.5 million in the bank from the Fernandes and Perez deals and others expected along with the £30 million already available, the Hammers have the cash.
It now looks as though it’s down to the Husillos negotiating skills to get them within budget although the board can be expected to dig a bit deeper if a little more is required.
What is the real budget Hugh?
‘The Hammers News’ come up with the £30m+ sales official line but then seemingly forgets how to count up by saying £30m+£42.5m+ hopefully another £10/15m from the board =£70/75m.
I’m not a rocket scientist but that doesn’t add up to me.. (unless the guy works for SuGo & then It would make sense)
It feels like it’s been about three years since the end of the season. I’m getting worn down by the speculation now. Don’t know how I’m gonna make it another two months.
It’s coming to the point where I may have to get a life.
