It might not have been the auspicious re-entry into domestic football which he’d planned, but Tomas Soucek made it back from serious injury suffered in the World Cup in June with a 45 minute appearance at London Stadium on Friday – and he has today confirmed he’s renewed his West Ham United contract.
In a moving, family oriented video released by West Ham this afternoon, Soucek made it clear that east London is home and he was delighted to put pen to paper on a renewed contract that’ll surely see him finishing his playing career at London Stadium.
“West Ham is the best place for me” confirmed Soucek. “It feels great to sign a new contract. West Ham united means a lot to me – it was like a perfect match for me.

I can say with my heart. It’s my home and it’s where I feel like so proud. It was the best decision I could make, coming to West Ham. Our fans are massive for us, so it is always great to score the goals for them – I’m so pleased that I’ve got this relationship.
“After signing a new contract, I have a new ambition for myself and for the Club. The first is that we want to go straight back to the Premier League, then I want to play and be successful in the Premier League next season”
Pictured at the stadium with his wife and three children, Soucek was happy displaying his new prowess in English which he’s learnt during his time as a Hammer –
” I didn’t speak English at all [when I came to West Ham] I can speak and I’m nearly English now!
Great move by West Ham to do the right thing with no shenanigans and renew the Czech’s contract. No details yet over how long but Soucek is clearly pleased, so that’s good enough for me.
Another ten goals wouldn’t go amiss this season to celebrate.
Appearance starting on Friday makes a lot more sense now. Try before we buy.
Excellent piece of business for West Ham. Just need to coax Vlad Coufal back into the fold. Stability, experience and knowledge should not be underestimated.

Glad that he’s happy with his new contract, he deserves it and to end his playing day’s with us.
i’m pleased for the lad he really has given a lot over the years and hopefully the bad times are a distant memory.
