Ings for Mikey when chasing goals?…Oh please Moyes

|

By Hughie Southon

I’m fed up with knocking David Moyes because it has become pointless and last night’s defeat was as expected as spring following winter.

But it really does seem that he fails to learn lessons from experiences as new, in this case, as last weekend at Palace.

Gave away the second goal

He made a similar to the one he was criticised for by the brilliant former midfielder Ian Bishop – one of the finest players many of us have seen in claret and blue.

Bish was properly cheesed off that he chose to take off Mikey Antonio and bring on a defender when we were chasing the game at 4-3.

Last night was almost as bad when the manager brought on the entirely ineffective Danny Ings who gave away a killer second goal and played with his back to goal all night.

He let us down, along with the manager and is beginning to look like another  very poor striker signing after Hugill and by the looks of it Scamacca.

Mikey Antonio is without question our best striker so please leave him on the pitch against Man United Moyes.

A couple of CandH followers make the same point with David Pope saying: “Same old same old, Moyes really hasn’t t a clue has he?

We are already losing so why not just play Antonio and Ings together, Ings will do nothing so it will be like having 10 men, I hope he does leave in the summer.”

And johnham1 added: “Please no more Ings as a loan front man. He was playing so close to his own goal and caused the second goal as a result which killed the game.

If I was manager I start with Antonio, replace him with Divin Mubama and then bring Ings on to work up top in a two.

Time after time Moyes has shown that he is the poorest judge of a forward and offensive tactics that has ever managed a top flight club . He continually tries to force very round pegs into very round holes . Two seasons without a goal scorer and a string of expensive proven goal scorers who never get started at the Hammers but move on and suddenly become prolific and still it goes on . If ever there was a time for an athletic youngster to chase and harry last night wasit but the bench was bare . Even then Moyes had a choice of Ings … goal poacher ( fox in the box ) or Cornal. When Toni went off having run himself into the ground Moyes brought on Ings . At that time the Hammers had only had 2 touches inside City box and what was needed was a player to put the defenders under a little pressure . What we got was an unfit goal hanger who has no hold up or harrassing ability who immediately gave away the second goal and with it the game . Ings is totally unsuitable as a goal scorer in Moyes set up and we do not have the players to make the chances in the box that he needs .
Our squad has excellent quality but no Manager . Moyes has 600 plus games of experience but during that period has won nothing . He has had a couple of seasons where the players are able to make an impression because of their ability . Moyes has not brought through a single youngster and has ruined at least three top level strikers .Even If we survive he must be asked to move on .

Why are we not giving Cornet a chance??
He’s far better in front and has the speed to chase balls. And the hunger as well.

Come on Hiugh , Ings is a proven striker , the problem is we don’t set up to support him or other strikers . It’s the system !
