Insider denies Yarmolenko reports

|

A club insider has denied Andriy Yarmolenko suffered an injury to his archilles while on international duty. The insider insisted the player mentioned nothing on his return to the club and was not under any pain or discomfort following his game for Ukraine.

Ukrainian media reported yesterday that Yarmolenko had received a knock on the same achilles and that there was some surprise he was cleared to play on Saturday. The insider insists this is simply not true and Yarmolenko took part in the full training session on Friday without any problems.

The insider also disputed reports in Germany earlier this year that the 28 year old suffered an achilles injury while at Borussia Dortmund.  In that injury he tore his plantar fascia which is the soft tissue under the foot. His medical at the time of signing for West Ham showed this had healed and his achilles was in good condition.

Yarmolenko’s operation went well on Monday and the insider said there is a chance the Ukrainian player could return in five months time in late March meaning he could still feature in some games this season.
