Irons and Pellegrini rated against Leicester

|

Hugh hands out his marks

Fabianski: Gave away an early penalty – saved the poorly hit spot kick, made two or three comfortable saves but no chance with the goals. Will need a bit more time 5.5

Fredericks: Barely noticed him to be honest 4

Diop: Clumsy early on the ball and never looked certain, twice even failed to pull back Gray when he was all but through 4

Balbuena: There’s was some decent defending in there now and again – did ok 6

Masuaku: Got forward well in the early stages but it didn’t last and he looked as average as most of the others at te end 5.5

Rice: One big early run and a half hit shot into the ground but on his first appearance as skipper bot in his usual prime form 5.5

anchez: Not quite as bad as we might have feared but the guy has so little to offer

Fornals: Lovely goal and plenty of hard work – we are gonna need him in this battle 6.5

Lanzini:  Could the real Lanzini come out of hiding – not sure whether this is a hitherto unknown twin brother

Anderson: One of our ‘best’ and a lovely assist for Fornals goal but he should be offering more 6.5

Haller: Just not enough from him and he can’t operate in a one up system 4

Subs

Antonio: Looked weary when he arrived – not the same drive to his game as recently 5

Snodgrass: The usual – bags of energy and effort 5.5

Ajeti: Well at least he was noticeable at last – did his level best in the short time he was on the pitch and a couple of decent runs 4

Pellegrini: Picked a ramshackle team and, okay, the likes of Noble needed to be rested but truth is Ogbonna would have made a big difference. Where was he? A really weird decision to take off Haller before going two up when we went behind because that’s how it should have been from the start. His whole ethos of keeping possession and attacking the opposition is gone. it’s history and there was nothing to admire – nobody had any sort of clue what sort of game we were playing – either those on the pitch or the terraces. 1

  • He’s got to go now before it’s to late how many more chances can you give him?

Thought Fornals played very well. Deserved in my view a higher rating than Anderson.
An absolutely crazy substitution by Pellegrini to swap Haller for Ajeti. The whole stadium booed it. Haller could well have scored from the two chances poor Ajeti muffed. The score could have been 3-2 to us. Anyway, its good-bye to that ‘charming man’….

Let’s be clear; we just lost to Leicester City reserves not Leicester City.

Pellegrini is doing a pitiful job, of course, and it does seem that he is simply digging in to get sacked and hence a big payout. I would have hoped that he had more about him than that but there you go.

Gold, Sullivan and Brady shouldn’t really have anything to do with recruiting the next manager. Their’s is a collective record of abject failure withn appointing the single most important individual at a football club. Unfortunately right now there’s no time to put in place a team of people who can run the club. The sensible thing would be an internal short term appointment – much as Everton did with Ferguson – and then look to get the right person in.

However, they could appoint God as manager but if they don’t withdraw and let someone else actually run the club, then the end result will always be the same.

As for this season if we do go down let’s see how many of Brady’s customers turn up to watch us take on Barnsley midweek. The balance of [power will shift dramatically.

Hugh. The man has to go. Players of proven ability look like carthorses. They were half a yard slower to the ball than Leicester, seldom tried to find space to receive the ball and I have seen better throw-ins in Sunday Park football. On my travels home I have never heard so many supporters saying that they will not come again until decisive acton is taken with Pellegrini. The owners must stop sitting on their hands and act now.

Just seen that he’s gone. Let’s hope they don’t appoint Moyes long term. I’d rather risk going down.

I agree we are not in a good place …but social media ratings and comments do not help. Players need encouragement they are a different breed confidence is a major factor. Basically do not slag them off all the time. Keyboard warriors syndrome remember you love the club thick or thin let’s get behind the IRONS. After all we love them don’t we forget the politics …please don’t send any negative reply’s my Mrs don’t like it onwards upwards like
