Irons buy out?

It won’t come any surprise to those who keep track of such things that Microsoft co founder Paul Allen’s link to a possible West Ham United buy-out produces a tired sigh and an “Oh no not again!”.

Stories of him wanting to get involved in the Premier League are not new – indeed they go back to 2007 – but have always proved false.

As owner of various sporting franchises in the States –  the Seattle Seahawks of the  National Football League and the Portland Trail Blazers ( National Basketball Association, plus being part owner of the MLS outfit  Seattle Sounders FC. (Wiki) it’s something of an easy hit.

The Sounders joined the American soccer league two years after he had been credited with an interest in Southampton which is reported here:

His apparent interest in football appears to have been satisfied as a result because in 2015 he was again reported as being interested in Aston Villa and came out denying it.

Stories such as these usually appear at times of discontent when wish fulfilment becomes the over-riding emotion but given that Allen has been linked with, and denied interest in PL football clubs for the past 11 years, it seems fair to put this one to bed.

The Hammers have denied any approaches and claim the Hammers are not for sale so now we are where we are!
