Irons ease past Perth

An entertaining game in Perth as we ran out comfortable winners

We had the perfect start when we scored in our first attack

Ings was out wide right and found Fornals, who slid the ball into Chesters inside the penalty area who looked up and put in a low right-foot cross that the Perth right back diverted into his own net with his right leg.

On the 20 minute mark the Irons doubled their lead when Fornals ran  onto a through ball and their centre back clattered him to the ground just as he was about to strike for goal. A stonewall penalty.

Scamacca took the penalty, smashing the ball just left of centre and high into the net as their goalie dived the other way.

Perth pulled one back just before half time when an innocuous cross was spectacularly volleyed in to the net by young Luizao, who incidentally had a good game prior to his mishap.

Just 10 minutes after the restart saw the Irons regain their two goal lead when Emerson broke into space behind the defence on the left, squared the ball low and Bowen timed his run superbly to get in front of their final defender and fired a first-time shot into the roof of the net with his left foot.

On the 70th minute West Ham put the game to bed with their fourth, and Bowen is involved again.

The winger timed his run well again, this time along the right edge of the penalty area. He clipped a wonderful cross to the far post, where Emerson met it with a thumping header into the net.

Fair play to Perth, they continued to try and make a game of it when they grabbed a goal back when Daniel Bennie showed real composure when he curled a peach of a shot past the recently introduced Anang into the net.

The dam finally broke on the 82nd minute when the goal machine Divin Mubuma headed home a cross from my man of the match, Danny Chesters; and then Jarred Bowen put the icing on the cake four minutes later with his second goal, this time from a Cresswell cross , coolly despatched into the far corner.

A very professional performance by the Irons
