Irons look at Bees striker

|

GrayWest Ham are reported this morning as considering a move for Brentford striker Andre Gray.

Slaven Bilic is stepping up the front man hunt and according to The Mirror “Gray is among the names” on a growing Hammers list.

The report claims that Brentford had rejected three bids for the £7 million rated striker and claims that Derby County and Bristol City are also keen.

The 24 year old has two years remaining on his contract at Griffin Park but the club are ready to offer a new deal to tie down his future.

The former Shrewsbury youngster was again on the score sheet in the weekend game against Bristol City in a 4-2 win at Ashton Gate.

Boss Marinus Dijkhuizen said: Gray showed what an asset he is to us and I am desperate to keep him. But sometimes money talks and it is not in my hands.

“If anything he has added to his value with this performance. I have two very good strikers and would love to keep them together.”

Sounds about right,we would end up paying £7m for a player who was playing in League Two a couple of seasons ago,lol

    • The Demon says:

Dunno – seems to have worked out for Charlie Austin and loads of people want us to sign him….

      • billy hammer says:

Yeah trouble though, for every one Austin there is ten others who cant hack it in the prem.Do we want to spend 7m on a punt 😉

  • jaybs says:

We seem to be linked with any striker there is going?

  • bubs says:

Not sure he is what we want now,we need a proven top flight scorer or winger/ striker,
£7 million seems quite steep for a non premier forward,
The trouble is we have waited so long others know we are getting desperate so the price goes up Yilanz has double over night,
Sooner spend £2 million on Mitchu and £3 million on Anchibee ( WBA ) once Carroll comes back 2 more games and then 6 weeks Valencia,

  • billy hammer says:

Anichebe gets injured more than Carroll bubs.I saw an article the other week where WBA were unhappy that he has only played about 20 games in two seasons with them because he has been shagged. Its why Everton binned him in the first place 😉

Very risky, especially when I thought we were after a PROVEN striker.
Why don’t we just try and get either Baldock or Maynard back.
Seriously pi55ed off if this turns out to be true.

  • Stingray Stewart says:

Lol,i was thinking the same,it will be like Baldock & Maynard all over again 😉

  • slaven a laugh says:

I won’t look down my nose at players in the lower leagues. Look at cresswell he hasn’t done bad. Look at Danny Ings and charlie austin. Ricky lambert before them. However, you don’t see the top teams taking risks. They snap them up later once they’ve proven themselves.
