Irons move for Chelsea striker gathers pace

|

rumour-raterMichy Batshuai is very much back on the Hammers radar.

We reported last night that the Belgian striker is unhappy about the planned loan switch to Swansea and the Hammers have immediately been in touch with Chelsea.

The player is keen on a move to the London Stadium and The Mirror’s Darren Lewis – with top links to the Hammers – has confirmed the story this morning adding that other clubs are interested.

He ย writes, however, that we are leading the chase saying: “The Irons have again registered their interest in the 23-year-old marksman after having an initial bid rejected last month. Batshuayi is understood to favour the Hammers.”

Jack Sullivan sent Batshuayi hopes soaring in the summer

Jack Sullivan sent Batshuayi hopes soaring in the summer

The former Marseille frontman scored in the FA Cup victory over Peterborough – but has not started a Premier League game this season.

Batshuayi was the club’s No 1 pick in the summer window but after bidding ยฃ31 million the striker opted for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Now, with his affections being transferred to east London, Hammers negotiators will settle don to a fierce battle for his loan signature.

Such was our interest in the summer that at one stage the co-chairman’s son Jack Sullivan was pictured wearing a Batshuayi top!

He is a good player. Can we get him probably not.It would certainly excite me more than the Zaza signing which only left me feeling cold.

  • Ohiord says:

I can’t believe that we are even considering sacking Bilic. Why? It’s a fickle game now. Things are grim, sack the manager & start again. Get Batshuayi. Just get him. He wants to play, he’s hungry, he has something to prove, he’ll run his legs off. Antonio, Cresswell & Payet crossing the ball into him, Carroll heading it down, what could possibly go wrong. Get back to doing what we do best, attack. Three or four wins & we will be talking about Europa League again. It’s a fickle game. The whole demeanour of the squad & the supporters will change in a heartbeat. Get Batshuayi, don’t let him go to Swansea, he don’t want to go there. Get him for the rest of the season & cut him loose. We overachieved last season, lets get back to reality, we aren’t taking our chances at the net. Fix that, not sack the manager, he can only work with what he’s got.

  • master says:

    Antonio in the other direction?

    • Long Fella says:

I hope not but it is a crazy window.
You would have got long odds on Llorente going to Chelsea a month ago.

    • Daboiflip says:

We would be mad to let antonio go the other way his one of the only ones giving his all for the shirt if we was to let him go it would she how clueless we are personally can’t see it happening as he was a gold/Sullivan buy and they stand by there men even when the manager don’t look at obiang for examplr. Would love to see batman at he club could we do a loan to buy deal very unlikely but would show us the fans the intent to move forward yes we had a bad window but they have a second chance to prove they want this as much as us keep billic but give him some help call in someone who can help.with tactics and fitness and defence get in batman and a rb some one in the creswell mould then we should be flying again which will get us over the line this season then as soon as this window closes get the next step up players for the summer so we don’t end up rushing and end up getting a zaza and also keep off Tue competition

Martinez laid two goals on yesterday when the PL2 team won including one for Fletcher and one for Browne plus had some shots saved. Still no sign of him near the first team, what does the kid have to do.

    • COYI 74 says:

Read exactly the same about Elliot Lee a couple of seasons ago..i will leave it there Lol

      • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Yeah most prospects don’t ever make the step up but some of them do, you never know until you try them at least loan the kid out to a championship side see if he scores as many goals for them, maybe loan him to Brentford as part of the deal for Hogan.

  • hammers64 says:

I really think the only way we will get Batshuayi is to let arguably our best player this season Antonio go the other way to Chelsea regretfully. Most of us who have followed football for decades said in the Summer Batshuayi would have been much better off playing at West Ham as our no1 striker rather than stagnating on the bench at Chelsea playing 2nd fiddle to Costa and even then not guaranteed a start. But hey that’s the pulling power of the really big clubs.

  • markro says:

    I agree Hammers64.

I can see a deal being done. We need to value Antonio at a high enough price to make Chelsea consider a sraight swap.

Antonio has been great for us, but he’s a throw-back to the days of blood and thunder. I’d hate to see him leave because his work rate is second to none, but I can smell the deal.

If Conte is that keen, we have the advantage in negotiations.

  • Daboiflip says:

Could we not put fletcher and Martinez upfront as I rekon they would be lethal upfront and concentrate our business in defence and midfield like I said on a earlier comment if we was to get someone in for tactics that we could build around Martinez and fletcher as they are the future come next season we will have a lot more to play for as this season is just playing to avoid relegation abit like the saints bring the youth through and build it around them

  • COYI 74 says:

It must be difficult as a player to turn down a team like Chelsea when they want you.I can understand why the draw of going to them won him over.
I am not taking much notice of the Antonio/Bats rumour.Though it does seem to be sending some fans in to a spin.
The power of the media eh.

  • Radai Lama..Out of contract & available says:

I cant see Ant going this window but nothing would surprise me.I think Batman would be a good signing.I love Ant but he does run around a bit like a bear with a swarm of bees going for his ass sometimes ๐Ÿ˜

  • Colin Irons says:

I cant see the Antonio story having any legs. Not unless for stupid, stupid money.
We will soon find out i guess in little over three weeks as the window shuts. In the meantime we have another three weeks of rumour to rummage through.
Oh by the way after the comments i left about very little business being done thus far how many clubs have signed players so far in the Premier League while we have been farting a round,an accusation made by some.Half a dozen players throughtout the entire twenty clubs possibly??

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

The most worrying thing about this story is the club haven’t denied it yet, so maybe there are talks ongoing ? I think we would be mad to let him go, we are still in a relegation fight especially if Palace turn us over, I do think the club are considering it, I think when they signed Ayew they were going to play him right wing with Antonio at full back, we also have Feghouli who can play that wing and if they sign Snodgrass make that 4 players for 1 position so something has to give and they have turned down Roma’s offer for Feghouli so that creates a lot of smoke, just hope it doesn’t catch fire because Antonio is our best player this season.

  • TRB says:

I don’t want this Bats fella in our squad if it means that Antonio has to leave.

  • Colin Irons says:

I really think that you could be getting in a pickle over nothing. Its a nice story for the media to run but i see no reason to get too downbeat or concerned.
Maybes the club havnt denied it because there is nothing to deny whu32.I mean a section of the fans want them to keep quiet so the slow dripping taps fans have what they crave.

  • newtown says:

No point in signing any striker unless we fundamentally change our style of play.
Every game this season home and away , no matter who the opposition has seen a single striker . Don’t say that’s because more than one has never been available.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Talking of transfers according to Sky Everton have agreed a fee of ยฃ22m for Schneiderlin that is one of the spots we are short looks like Everton are buying quality proven players for market rates. They are showing ambition in the market, wouldn’t surprise me if they also do a deal for Depay, we need to follow suit imo certainly if we have the ambition to compete at the top every season.

    • Radai Lama..Out of contract & available says:

I said the other week i would love to go out & get him.Ok he has had a lack of first team opportunities at Manure but he was really good at The Saints.Strong tackler, box to box,can pick a pass & weighs in with a few goals.
Of course the reply i got was why do we want a Man.Utd reject so i thought f*ck it i give up & left it at that ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Radai Lama..Out of contract & available says:

Sky saying we have upped our bid for Snods 32.That will please you.It will please me if we sign him.Screw caring what other fans think,๐Ÿ˜‰
