Irons unsung hero may be changing Moyes’ mind

|

Fabian Balbuena is  doing a good job of showing David Moyes that his original plan to splash an almighty amount of dough on James Tarkowski  was a pretty poor call!

It’s been very well known that Moyes supposedly wasn’t overly keen keen on the 29 year old but fair play to the guy he has gritted his teeth, hung in there and is making his presence felt.

The Paraguyan – currently keeping Issa Diop out of the starting eleven- has produced a series of decent performances and at a fee of around £5 million may well turn out to be one of the few respectable Pellegrini signings.

That Moyes played him today in preference to Diop appears to show that The General has done a great job in fighting his way back into the manager’s plans.

His is a far cry from the attitude of a certain Jack Wilshere who claims he was never going to get a chance under Moyes whatever he did.

The £100,000 a week Wilshere went live on the BBC explaining why he was unready to stay at a club where he was never going to get a chance whatever he did.

He’s a defeatist unlike The General who really did the business this afternoon against City after spending 20 hours in the air before turning out against Spurs. The guy is thoroughly professional

Big name players are all well and good but every club has its unsung heroes and now is the time to say well done to one of ours.

Congratulations ‘General.’

    Spot on, Hugh.

In his first season I thought he was exceptional, glad to see his return to form COYI!!!

  • Maziron says:

I thought he made it too easy for Son to score last week, but he started the come back with his goal, and was absolutely immense today. All credit to him.

With all due respect what makes you assume it was Balbuena being replaced by Tarkowski? I think you’ll find we were targeting left sided central defenders used to playing in a back three who were also good in the air. This tells me the player we were looking to replace in the back three was Cresswell, not Balbuena. We already have Diop as back up for Balbuena.

Credit to Balbuena for fighting his way back into the managers plans and credit to Moyes for giving him his chance and believing in him……. I think it says lots about Moyes that a player can change his opinion of him. It is probably just as much of a shock to most of us supporters too.
Balbuena deserves applause because of his show of pride and professionalism. IF Wilshere was good enough or had half of what Balbuena has shown in terms of pride and professionalism, he would probably still be at the club. Unfortunately, Jack is living off his distant past and probably feels that his name should be enough to get him in the starting eleven…… which is why he is now playing for…. Exactly?
The MLS is the only destination for him.

We have accumulated more points than anyone dared think of with this schedule .
    COYHammers , and DM

I already knew this about the general….. but pellegrini diminished his confidence and played everyone out of character …..

I always knew balbuena was a solid defender …. no brainer as he has be named the general for a reason .

Another fine example of players coming into our team this season when called upon and fighting for his place. Moyes has brought the hunger back to the squad.

Agree. I think Moyes juts likes to use players he knows so some don’t get a chance but Balbuena has taken his. I didn’t get why everyone wanted to sell him I think he should get extension. Deal up this summer on £30k at £4m is good character doesn’t moan well rounded CB lacks pace but all our CBs do. Diop struggled last season too & got a lot more time then Balbuena who imo looked good when got chance after restart.
Moyes should definitely come around like he did with Fornals. I’m Just half that got chances, I wonder if Cullen stayed & got chance in PL then Moyes might of wanted to him. Moyes wants to see players play in PL & then he trust them. Fornals & Balbuena changed is mind now let’s hope he starts giving some youth like Ashby some subs who I think be great on RCB in back 3.

Sullivan only decide to sign the players who do well?
