It’s a disappointing turn-out for Hammers v Freiburg
It’s a disappointing turnout for the Hammers v Freiburg with less than 50,000 tickets have been sold for the Hammers v Freiburg clash.
Many tickets are still available despite the importance of the Group A game against the Bundesliga outfit. Whether this is because Christmas is just around the corner or as a result of the shocking defeat at Fulham is unclear.
So far only 47,000 tickets have been sold for a game in which the Hammers need a win or draw to remain on top of the group.
The club had been looking for a minimum of around 57,000 or so there was major disappointment when we spoke to insiders this evening.
We were told: “It really is so disappointing given the importance of the match which could set up a great climax to the season. We expected something much closer to 60,000 and it is difficult to understand why we are so short.”
However it means that you can be there with tickets still on general sale with prices starting at just £10 for Under-18s and £30 Adults for Season Ticket Holders.

Might it possibly be a general dislike of Moyes boring style of playing added to the cost of Christmas?
I’d love to go, but just afford it. It’s not an unreasonable price for a ticket, but there’s always a tipping point. If they were £20 for the Band 4 seats, it might have swayed me, but it’s not just the cost of the ticket, but the trains are astronomical (when they run) so it’s a £200 trip for a family at a difficult time of year.
Could the turgid football on offer be an explanation?
That is a disappointing expected crowd. Struggle to believe it has much to do with the calamitous Fulham result, surely we weren’t budgeting on 13k tickets being sold in the 3x days before the match? More likely the combination of Christmas and the cumulative effect of the cost of living issue is having an impact……..enough of my friends and family are talking about cut backs in household budgets and Christmas presents.
