PSG keeper Alphonse Areola spent last season on loan at Fulham and has now returned to his parent club, Paris Saint-Germian, after the West London club were relegated from the Premier League. Four days ago, Foot Mercato claimed the Hammers are interested in taking the 28-year-old on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Those claims are now backed up by Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe and they state David Moyes ‘wants’ the Frenchman.
Fulham also paid a loan fee to PSG last season though to be around 5 million Euros which is around £4.3m
These reports make no sense, a goal keeper is not a priority position for David Moyes this summer yet we are supposed to believe we are going to £4.3m fee and £8.3m in wages for a combined cost of £12.6m for just one season. The option to buy is thought to be another £21m with a four year contract costing another £33m in wages.
A five year deal could end up costing £67m! It just doesn’t add up!
Agree Sean the wages are not viable but disagree we need a keeper this season asp. If you think we have a stand in keeper when fab gets injured then your living in lah lah land geezer
