Joshua King update

|

Joshua King is unlikeley to sign for West Ham in the next week!

The Bournemouth forward who reportedly earns £45,000 per week on the south coast wants a massive pay rise almost doubling his wages and there is certain to be a huge agent’s fee involved as a result.

This, together with Bournemouth’s valuation for the 28-year-old, means the chance of signing him before the  October 16 deadline is seriously slim.

Along with that is the issue of him playing second fiddle to Michail Antonio plus there apparently remains interest from Manchester United although manager Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s position may be a problem.

King, in fact, started at the Old Trafford academy as a sixteen-year-old before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 2013 for £1m, later joining Bournemouth in 2015 on a free transfer.

He has made 171 appearances for the Cherries scoring 50 goals, nine of them last season in 33 appearances before Bournemouth were relegated.

He has failed to feature this season failing to make the matchday squad except for one cameo role against Norwich City in the Championship when he came on a substitute although that may be to save him from any injury problems given questions over his future.

Our owners are a joke if DM wants Kung they should pay the going rate . We have champagne ambition & lemonade money . We will never sign anybody if we low ball every club . I’m tired of the owners.

A player that could cover Bowen and Antonio and is far better option than Haller,Yarmalenko,Lanzini and Anderson?
Obviously the defense has been Moyes priority, but the attack option runs it a close second, especially when you factor in Antonio’s injury record and the sheer amount of relentless work he has to do.

There will only be 11 weeks until the next transfer window after the international break. For me we should be concentrating on another centre half who will improve the team and a left back or central midfielder as cover more than a forward at this stage. However I would rather hold on to the money than spend it for the sake of it. Come year end there may be a few team’s desperate to sell it there are no fans back in the stadiums.

I love it, Haller has played about 20 minutes of premier this season, plus a couple of outings with the second string in support (where he scored) and he’s written off as not good enough! He scored bundles in the Bundesliga with good support up front and if he had had the same support last season as Antonio is getting this season he would have shown what he has got. He looks languid on the pitch but don’t mistake that for laziness. He knows how to score goals, and is very good in the air. If anything happens to Antonio (who is just fantastic at present) Halley will fill in fine.

I agree with this, I have no problem with Haller at all and think he has some real quality. He does have a languid style and that does not do him any favours with our fans but I am certainly not writing him off.

    • GaryD says:

Agree. Unlike Berbatov who made it look effortless, because it was, Haller can do the work. If Masuaku is injured, move Antonio to the left and Haller can earn his keep.

  • Connor says:

If this is true then his agent is being smart. Seen that we’ve let go a lot of our high earners he’s gone in high with the wage demands. You always aim higher than what you’re willing to accept. But in reality his at a club that’s just been relegated so he isn’t at the best situation to ask for that amount.

If he’s a Moyes target, and imo he should be, then Sullivan has to get this done. I’d imagine the Tarkowski deal would of cost more than this so there isn’t any reason why this can’t get done!

  • Hammerpete says:

If he is a priority for DM then surely a contract could comprise basic, appearances and wins/goals scored? Would prefer the defensive cover is solved first with January window coming though.

  • Les says:

Same old same old. Don’t worry chaps, we got more chance seeing Sullivan sleeping in shop entrances and asking people for spare change to buy himself a cup a tea.

  • Ronny says:

I really prefer us to hold on to our money until January, I think Antonio and Haller can manage – and in worst case we also have Yarmolenko for emergency cover (If we ignore our youngsters).

We still need to move on high earners who are not producing, and then we can start the rebuild for real; and if we do want to play with 3CBs, a new CB should be priority (again, if we won’t play Alese or Cordoso).

So this would be a no for me, until we have a target that we REALLY want; not someone that is available due to a half closed transfer window.

On a positive note, I think we have found a good working formation, and hopefully some of our “misfits”, might find their form again. I mean both Cresswell and Masuaku have played really will in this formation under Moyes, so maybe a few others like Lanzini and Haller can come good also over time?

Really think it’s about time to call a halt on all this speculative nonsense .
We have signed ; Bowen , Soucec , & Couful ( forgive the spelling ) in recent months and they have made a huge difference to our team . We would not have beaten Wolves & Leicester without them , so I think it’s time for fans to Clam down a bit . I’m sure there will be a few sighnings within the next 8 or 9 days . I’m 69 years old now and have never seen so much rubbish written and commented on in all those years as a West Ham United fan by YouTubers . Not sure what they want apart from increasing subscription’s .
We recently saw Man Utd & Liverpool lose by embarrassingly large margins , not to mention that Man City are in no great shakes . It really is time to support the club instead of spreading doom & disaster . I LOVE WEST HAM UNITED and am getting very tired of people casting a shadow over our future to win YouTube points .
I admit that we could benefit from big rich owners , but honestly , is that honest football or should we throw it all away and destroy our integrity as a footballing club win or lose .
We are in the Premiership ffs

Been supporting WHU since 1965 love my team every time we lose it ruins my weekend. That said D.M has said to compete not win anything we need a CF, CB& a LB Mikel is running his heart out but its a fact he tends to get injured. We could wait until January and chance that our form continues but the owners are letting us down . I have always said without G & S we could have been another Portsmouth however it needs to be said straight if you cannot invest as we are the only team in the P.L who have been hit by the pandemic, If you think i am wrong look at our rivals spending so shape up or sell up.We deserve better…

  • Chunk says:

I don’t agree that we will need a LB. This new formation that we are playing and that I agree with, I don’t see the need for a left back. Reading many peoples opinions it seems to me that most are happy with Masuaku as a wing back / LM and have 3 out and out C.B’s. I know Cresswell is not an out right CB so for me a CB is a must and have Cresswell to cover a LCB or wing back/LB if required or a change in formation. Like the idea of King as well to cover a variety of positions up top.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

I am not expecting us to sign any quality players like King under GSB whether the wages are true or not if we wanted him it seems like we could get him, the owners are Mickey Mouse they get lucky once in a blue moon like with Soucek, Payet and Coufal, every dog has its day….
