Irons media madness stats

|

I don’t really know why but I was mildly astonished during a conversation with a good friend and agent last night when he revealed some crazy stats.

Some folk on forums love to apportion blame to whoever best suits their personal prejudices and sadly in other cases, hatred, which I’ve never found changes much.

However, doing so on the basis of media reports is a really delusional attitude although no words of mine or anyone else will ever stop it so giving up seems a pretty sensible option.

However, my pal had kept a check last season and this on how many media stories of transfer links to West Ham had been made last summer and this.

I was only astonished because I thought it had to be more but he tells me that last summer a total of 72 appeared in the newspapers alone with another 49 so far this year.

TV stories add up to another 16 this summer meaning that over two summers the Hammers have apparently been interested in 137 players.

It’s impossible to keep up with those that appear on social media of course!

And before anyone asks why we report them the answer is simple. We are here to report as much Irons news as we can find and where it’s from another paper or site the word REPORT is included in the headline and responsible paper or site etc names.

Best to stay calm on judgements until the tales emerge as having a real basis perhaps!

I think it’s encouraging if West Ham has a scouting system capable of checking out so many players. Manchester City and Liverpool will have an even greater spread at their disposal and have bought into feeder clubs world wide. Limiting ourselves to a tiny handful of targets has been the reason for so many failures in previous seasons.

Makes me laugh the way fans, partly fuelled by West Ham websites and you tube channels it has to be said, get all wound up about the owners not bringing in players that we were never in for in the first place. It’s like watching a paranoid schizophrenic having an argument with an imaginary friend. Pitiful really.

Agree Hugh and also with Clive that over the last couple of days WH seem to have more scouts than previously. Which can only be good for the club. Don’t like the idea of agents but they are here to stay.
