Klopp may be in hot water

|

Jurgen Klopp’s outburst that the Hammers may have been favoured by referee Kevin Friend in the second half of Monday night’s match could land him in trouble by the Football Association.

The German was not his usual happy-go-lucky self after Manuel Pellegrini’s men had all but won the game against the leaders.

And with the pressure starting to show as points slipped away in the title chase Klopp involved himself in what many saw as an unpleasant display of sour grapes.

Some Hammers fans have even mentioned that he was only doing his job by the club but that’s a tricky one to follow when it’s clear that the pressure is showing more and more and probably putting is players in the same position as a result.

And it’s now being unsurprisingly reported that the Liverpool boss has received a letter from the FA who want him to explain some controversial remarks.

He had said that the officials had been favourable to West Ham in the second half declaring: “I heard our goal was offside, I’m pretty sure the ref knew that. In 50-50 situations it was always a free kick for the other team, which was hard and did not make life easy.

As a human being, if I know I have made a big mistake in the first half, I don’t want to open the gap any more.”

Not to put too fine a point on it he’s saying that because of their human nature the officials may have cheated! Hmmm.

If found guilty he would probably face the same fine of £8k as he did when rushing onto the pitch during the Merseyside derby.

    Massive irony.

The only reason his team got anything at all out of the game was that the officials erred in his favour.

What will he say if that undeserved point is the difference that gives Liverpool the title?
