Lanzini is back for Fulham

|

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini told reporters at Rush Green this lunchtime that Manuel Lanzini was on track to return to the first squad for the Friday night Fulham game on 22nd February.

The gaffer told the media at the pre-match press conference “We hope that Manu Lanzini will be ready for Fulham, at least for the bench, if he continues working over the next two weeks, and Fabian Balbuena could be back in a couple of weeks.”

Lanzini suffered from a ruptured anterior knee ligament injury during in World Cup training back in June last year. He then underwent successful surgery at the Hospital Quirón Barcelona in Spain on his torn anterior cruciate ligaments by pioneering orthopaedic surgeon Dr Ramon Cugat.

It was initially thought he could be out for up to twelve months but he appears to be on target for an early return. FIFA has been paying Lanzini’s full wages while he has been out injured under the club protection scheme which compensates clubs for the loss of players through injury while on International duty.
