Lanzini ready for action

|

Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Manu Lanzini and Felipe Anderson are both fit for the trip to Place on Boxing Day following their recoveries from a shoulder injury and sickness respectively.

The Argentine midfielder in fact suffered a dislocation whilst the Brazilian a 24 hours virus which has ensured that he has been able to train with little interruption

Speaking at his presser when updating his injuries the manager said: “Lanzini has been working without any problems for around ten days

“He is able to be 100 per cent fit. He had a problem in his shoulder and not a muscle injury, so maybe it’s easier for him to return.

“Felipe worked the complete week without any problem. He was ill for the last game.

“Jack Wilshere continues with some pain in his groin, so he is not working with the squad, and Winston [Reid] is mixing, working one day and the other day recovering.”

ClaretandHugh says: The return of Lanzini will not present too much of a selection problem for Pellegrini as the midfielder is likely to play same sort of cameo role around the 75th minute which is the usual time for Anderson’s departure from the team should he be involved. It can only be hoped that he returns in better form than he showed before his late departure at Burnley. Anderson’s illness of course prompted the manager to play the two up we had all been screaming for so his next decision is whether he changes a winning line-up at all. I have little doubt we will see Lanzini at some point as he needs minutes as he bids to come back to full fitness but there has to be a doubt over Anderson who has been ineffective for much of the season. Regardless it is good to see those who can be key players returning but as for Jack Wilshere no comment.
