West Ham looking to add to their Midfield options according to French news outlet
WHILST on its own the existence of Portuguese heritage doesn’t of course guarantee the veracity of a transfer link between West Ham and another midfield target, it would go a long way to explain the sourcing of the individual concerned.
West Ham of course now have a Portuguese head coach , assistant head coach and Nuno’s ‘super agent’ mate Jorge Mendes working on bringing players into the club: Not surprisingly the links with their homeland keep on coming,
A quick dig round latest midfield transfer target Mory Gbane’s career shows a lengthy spell at Pablo’s old Primera Liga side Gil Vicente: Two years in fact, between 2023 and ’25 when he was sold to France side Reims for €5m: A good bit of business for the Portuguese side who picked him up for just €1.5m.
French site footmercato now believe that the tall Ivory Coast-born DM is a Hammers target:
“According to our information, the future of the 27-year-old midfielder could well be written abroad since three major European contenders are ready to go on the offensive: West Ham (Championship), Celtic Glasgow (Scottish Premiership) and Trabzonspor (Süper Lig) are concretely interested in his services.
Faced with these growing requests, the management of the SDR [Reims] is not closed to the idea of a sale this summer if a good offer arrives on their table.”
However: Logic would suggest the Irons have other priorities ahead of adding another Potts or Magassa-like athletic, solid if none-too-creative defensive midfielder to their ranks- unless Nuno has determined one or the other of the present incumbents surplus to requirements for the Championship.

Not impressed by this target so hope it’s just media talk
