After a week of post – contract silence, it seems that another of West Ham’s Premier League squad is set to depart rather than remain at the club in the second tier. Despite having been offered a contract extension, the forward in question looks set to make a cross-London move to Brentford in a bid to keep his top flight career on track.
And at 34 years old, nobody can really blame him.
One final hurrah for Callum Wilson should help him score the five goals he seeks to join the PL100 club and celticshorts.com claim he’s decided on a switch to west London rather than remaining for a second season at West Ham:
“Premier League side Brentford look set to secure the signing of former England striker Callum Wilson. The 34-year-old was heavily linked with Celtic in January as Martin O’Neill looked to bolster his attack with the seasoned striker but no deal was forthcoming.
Now, as reported by Sky Sports, Brentford are in advanced talks to sign the attacker, who left West Ham at the end of last season.”

Wilson’s superb ‘equalizer’ – the ‘goal that never was’ against Arsenal – will live long in Hammers’ fans’ memories
Which will be perhaps the least surprising departure of the summer. Wilson and Nuno was not a match made in heaven and the veteran goal scorer struggled for minutes. Just this morning, he’s reported as heading for a medical at the Bees’ HQ.
Having proven a level of fitness last season following a Newcastle exit very much the ‘broken’ forward, Wilson deserves more than the pay per play contract the Hammers gave him when Sullivan signed him last August.
As a Brentford ‘super sub’, hopefully he’ll get his five goals and retire in comfort.
Contributed more than I expected last season, so best of luck to him getting those five goals.
At least he won’t be getting those 5 goals against us next season 😊⚒️⚒️
Well who can blame him, chances after this Season of getting into a Premiership side are pretty slim and he wants to get in that goal scoring club. I wish him well and hope he get what he wants without the officials chalking too many off with poor decisions like against Arsenal last season.
Well said Rob.
Can’t say I was overly impressed when the club signed him, but he proved my doubts were unfounded.
Fella deserves to hit that 100 club and I hope he gets there.
