Leeds in Hammers talks

|

Leeds are in talks with West Ham over a compensation fee for Sonny Perkins, according to The Athletic.

The Whites are on the verge of doing a deal to sign the England Under-18 international, who left the Hammers last month.

The 18-year-old rejected a number of contract offers from the Hammers, who subsequently released a statement claiming that they were “disappointed” with the player’s decision.

Perkins had made three first-team appearances last season and now appears poised to move to Elland Road.

Leeds have subsequently entered into talks with the Hammers over the compensation fee.

If the two sides cannot reach an agreement, the fee will instead be set by a tribunal because of the player’s age.

Leeds have rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing but there has been some suggestion that there was a long-term interest in Perkins, which may have been ongoing in the background of his contract negotiations with the Hammers.

Sad but not surprising in these money grabbing days when it even sucks in young players.

Different generation, unfortunately. It used to be all about, loyalty, respect and graft.
Judging by the way that him being a massive spuds supporter was put out there, it is very strange that he didn’t end up with them. Maybe, they weren’t impressed with his shenanigans either?
