Leroy: “I had big doubts but Slav’s turned it big time”

|

LEROY (1)What a performance …what an incredible victory …what a game changer in our season – we were magnificent!

I’m gonna be quite honest about this with you. I don’t like being wise after the even or hearing the words “told you so.”I had big doubts as to whether the manager could get it right after our start because we were as bad as I’ve ever seen us.

But he’s turning it in a big way and while he takes an awful lot of credit so do the players because they all played out of their skins last night in what was an awesom performance.

Kouyate at the back has made an enormous difference and Michael Antonio was sensational up front but from front to back the lads were superb.

You can only play really well with a team of 11 players in their set up if you have 11 in yours and I’m afraid we have been playing with ten when the boy Zaza has been involved.

Last night we had a strong running, mobile player through the middle who can hold players off, link the play and bring others in and he’s not really a centre forward.

We are growing in confidence big time and reached another big high against Chelsea probably on the back of  clean sheets because once you start managing that you always believe you can grab something.

We never looked in serious bother because Winston Reid was playing like a colossus with Kouyate beside him, Fernandes looked fabulous and the remainder of the team – special word for Pedro Obiang – were brilliant.

Slaven has every right to claim we can go all the way in this competition because he has them in fantastic form. I don’t know him or how he has operated on the training ground but he has got everything spot on

We’re on our way big time.
