Let’s not begrudge Dec a move – he’s a West Ham legend

|

Declan Rice has made it clear that he wants to move on to a club that will be regularly challenging for a Champions League spot. Here CandH blogger The Cat puts that entirely in perspective.

It was a nice thought, but I never truly believed for a single second that Declan would be staying with us, and to be honest I wouldn’t begrude him the move which we knew had been coming for some time.

Declan has already written himself into legend status at this club and will ALWAYS be West Ham. He has a true connection to this club and the memories created with us will always be treasured memories.

From youth player with the academy, getting into the first team, becoming club captain and then playing for England.

When he signed his last deal with us, we knew then that his long-term future wouldn’t be with us and it was NEVER about the money for Declan, if it was, he would have signed a new contract with us for more money.

It will be a sad day if he goes. Don’t tell me any West Ham fan would want to see Dec as Captain of Arsenal or Tottenham. Wouldn’t begrudge him a move to Man City though strangely. Wanted to see another Captain of West Ham and England in my lifetime though and now I know if Dec goes I probably never will.

      Got to agree 100%
I feel that he will leave this summer and if he does, Man City would also be the best option for me also.
