Liverpool v Irons: Tier 3 lockdown situation

|

West Ham visit Liverpool next weekend which will come under Government tier 3 restrictions from midnight today (Fri).

However, those worried the game could be hit as a result of them can relax!

ClaretandHugh understands that while tourists are forbidden from staying at hotels in Liverpool, Premier League squads are not subject to the same restrictions and will be allowed to stay in the area if they choose.

Premier League squads are tested weekly and must follow strict medical protocols under guidelines set out for elite sports people.  The squad must wear masks if they travel by plane or train to Merseyside.

Premier League games are likely to be played behind closed doors for the rest of the year with little hope of a partial return of supporters in 2020.  However, the Premier League will continue and it is unlikely to be be suspended as it was in March earlier this year.

A vaccine which the Government say could be available as early as Late December could mean a return of some supporters next year before the season ends.
